IPHONE MANIA JULY 11, 2008

DGc/tQjQZf8rsMo/s400/iphone+like+santa+monica.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5221942796389092258" THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE ALL OVER THE WORLD STORMED APPLE COMPUTER STORES TO BUY THEIR LATEST I-PHONE FRIDAY MORNING, INCLUDING THE STORE ON THE 3RD ST. PROMENADE, SANTA MONICA.

look at the line behind the cop.

when i arrived about 7:00 am to begin playing for an audience i knew couldn't escape me, the line was already a block and a half long. so many people arrived quite early, perhaps before dawn.

i proceeded to open my set with a BENNY CARTER MEDLEY, ANOTHER PLACE ANOTHER TIME, EASY MONEY, AND SUMMER SERENADE. HOWEVER POLICEMAN ATKINS STOPPED ME AFTER ONE CHORUS, (YOU CAN HEAR THIS RECORDING AT WWW.JAMWAVE.COM, AND WROTE ME UP FOR PLAYING MUSIC BEFORE 9 A.M.

well by 9 a.m. i was pretty upset so i performed BLOODCOUNT which billy strayhorne composed on his death bed. then i played 3 choruses of CHELSEA BRIDGE, over seven and a half minutes long. i had to record this again after listening to BEN WEBSTER on youtube which i posted to my myspace blog. www.myspace.com/wenmew1 and www.myspace.com/wenmewsaxophonistflutist.

then after lunch i moved to another spot as the line was quite long, and many people who were there when i arrived at 7am, still hadn't gotten into the store; so i played DEAR LORD by john coltrane. after i finished, and you can hear this recording on my blog www.myspace.com/wenmewsaxophonistflutist, this guy right out of the GODFATHER proceeded to cuss me out for playing too loud. HE SAID "YOU PLAYED SO FUCKEN LOUD, I COULDN'T TALK ON MY CELL PHONE". my tape recorder was running; so i left his complaint to me right on the recording. this guy talked tough; acted tough and used profanity right after i played a pretty good version of DEAR LORD which JOHN COLTRANE dedicated to the almighty. this is sacred music, and this guy cussed me out. i couldn't believe it; so i have the proof right on the internet.

well by then it was close to 2pm. , and i had had enough, first the cop writing me up and then a hit man who tried to scare me. little did he know that i lived in chicago for 13 years, and i KNOW MOBSTERS. just like a pipsqueak mob guy once tried to extort money from DUKE ELLINGTON, all duke had to do was to call AL CAPONE. this guy doesn't know it, but i could have him eliminated. the funny thing was after he cussed me out, he left because he didn't want to wait in line for his iphone. he cussed me out and didn't bother to buy an iphone. you meet all kinds of people playing music on the street.

actually when the cop began writing me up, the money came pouring in because people felt sorry for me, and these smart computer people knew i would need LEGAL DEFENSE FUND because i challenge all my tickets. if i let them convict me, i could lose my peformance privileges.

now all this shows you how ridiculous and unconstitutional santa monica performance regulations are. they are unconstitutional on their face and unconstitutional in the way in which they are applied. also the fines ARE based on traffic violation fines; so if i'm convicted the fine is $200. it takes me weeks to make $200 playing on the street.

CONSEQUENTLY IF A GOOD CONSTITUTIONAL LAWYER HELPS ME, I COULD WIN THIS CASE IN THE UNITED STATES SUPREME COURT EVEN WITH THE BUSH APPOINTEES. SOME OF THOSE JUSTICES MUST APPRECIATE MUSIC AS FREE SPEECH. RIGHT NOW I CAN'T EVEN AFFORD THE FILING FEES OR THE PAPER WORK TO FIGHT THIS CASE. HOWEVER SANTA MONICA WILL NOT SILENCE MY SAXOPHONE!!!!!

Tubby Hayes
meets
Sal Nistico

Tubby Hayes Interview

HAYES: Do you do any kind of practising, Sal, to keep in shape while you’re with Woody’s band?

NISTICO: Well, when I have time off, I appreciate it music–wise to get out of a rut, man. You know what I mean? But when I practise, I usually blow tunes and all that. But I think I’m going to try to get some books again, and just practise that way. Then, when I go back to a small group, I think it will be much better for me By practising technical things, it’ll mean I’ve still got the horn together and my playing will be fresh.

HAYES: Yes, I never practised out of books, but I used to work out runs, scales and arpeggios. The trouble with that is: you get ‘em all off in all the different keys, and then you do tend to use that technique a lot.

NISTICO: It’s like getting your vocabulary together—and using it on the gig. When you’ve become familiar with a thing,

then you can play it in different ways. But I don’t think you can go right ahead. I know I can’t go right in and play what I hear every time.

HAYES: But, you know, I feel, in a lot of ways, that I’ve exhausted that kind of thing, and I’ve got to try and get into something else. And it’s very difficult to do that, isn’t it? You can’t just stop overnight doing what you’ve been doing for nearly twenty years.

The way it’s going towards playing ‘free’ these days—like, listening to Lee Konitz in Ronnie’s—I find that everything I’ve been practising over the years is no help to me. In fact, it’s a restriction.

NISTICO: Yes, exactly. I know what you mean. I’m up against that wall, too.

HAYES: Sometimes I find it best for a few days not to listen to any music, not to play—just try and figure things out in your mind.

NISTICO: I agree. Because I fall in ruts, you know. After a while my fingers start playing me.

HAYES: Automatic, sort of thing. I know—I get the same thing.

NISTICO: In a band it’s easy to fall into that.

HAYES: Oh, it is—in a big band. You’ve. got so many choruses, and then the brass are going to come in behind you.

NISTICO: But I don’t even always know when they’re coming in! And that’s a hang–up.

HAYES: Yes, you don’t know when to build to the climax. And when they come in, it’s so loud that automatically you’ve got to start screaming about in the top register to try to get across.

NISTICO: Right—and it has nothing to do with what I was playing before It’s hard. Especially when they expect a certain thing from you all the time. But sometimes we like to play something else.

HAYES: It’s the same with me. We’ve got the same sort of problem. We both like to play ballads, or any kind of thing, but we’re sort of stereotyped. Everybody expects the tear–up tempos all the time.

NISTICO: It can be a drag, man. It’s a lot of pressure.

HAYES: Yes. There was the time I went on a concert with the Quartet at the Festival Hall. There were about two or three bands on before us—all good groups—and they were all playing mainly fast loud things. We were closing the first half, and everybody had overrun, so we didn’t have much time. They didn’t want us to overrun, because Maynard was going on after the interval. So I said: ‘Let’s play a ballad.’ So we went on, played a ballad, and it went down very well. And they wrote it up and said I must have been sick!

NISTICO: That’s terrible, man. You’re sick because you play a ballad! I mean—I’m not a real good ballad player like a lot of cats but there are other things besides. Like some good tunes, medium things where you can think and create. With me, it’s very rare that I can be that creative at the fast tempo. It gets like turning on a faucet. I appreciate the fact that Woody regards me as capable of carrying off those spots, but there are some times that I go on the job and I might not be in that mood. But everybody in a big band has to go through that.

HAYES: Oh, sure. That’s why it’s nice to be able to work with a smaller group—especially if it’s your own, and you can go where you want to, more or less. Although—you can’t always play the way you want to. I remember working at Ronnie’s old club and trying to stretch out a bit. Sometimes it came off, sometimes it didn’t. But Ronnie used to say people had complained the numbers were too long—and they were probably right. Yet, at the new club recently, I’ve heard Yusef, Sonny and Lee stretching right out—and nobody says anything about that.

NISTICO: But, you know, Lee has always approached it that way. I was talking to him the other night, and he said that he never had so much pressure on him that he had to come across with a certain thing. He just played from what he wanted to do. And now he’s got it together so well. I know he fractured you the same as he did me.

HAYES: Oh—tremendous. I’ve never heard him play as good as this, honestly. That sound of his—it’s beautiful. He’s got the top notes—the whole thing. And those triplet things he gets into!

NISTICO: I played alto when I was younger, you know. I prefer that part of the register in music. I like ‘cello, man. I always liked that lower thing. But it’s harder to play tenor—phrase–wise. You read some things that Bird said, that he preferred the alto because the tenor was too big for him to play the long phrases. But I think it can be done on tenor.

HAYES: Yes. I played alto a bit—probably not enough. I enjoyed playing it, you know, but I could never—the intonation in the top register—whew! Maybe it’s because you’re not used to hearing those things.

NISTICO: Exactly. That’s my problem, too.

HAYES: Do you play the baritone, Sal, at all?

NISTICO: I played baritone a couple of weeks with Slide Hampton—not enough time for me to get into it. I liked the instrument because it was novel but after a while—I couldn’t hear that low. I guess—maybe it’s because I’ve played the tenor so long. Do you think that’s it, man?

HAYES: Yes, probably. Personally speaking—I just didn’t have enough wind, I suppose!

NISTICO: My problem. I didn’t have the air control. But I think your ear does get set—you want to get that close to your horn.

HAYES: There again, the tenor is pitched in B flat, while the alto and the baritone are E flat. One good thing about it—everything you play is in a different key, so that makes you think more. When you’ve got used to playing a certain tune in B flat on the tenor for years and years—well, you can’t always be fresh.

NISTICO: I agree completely, man.

HAYES: That’s why I enjoy playing the flute, because, although the embouchure is difficult—it’s in concert pitch, and all that—the fingering’s not so different, except up the top.

NISTICO: I’m told you play excellent vibes, Tubby. I never heard you.

HAYES: I used to play ‘em a lot. I don’t play ‘em very much these days.

NISTICO: How’d you get into that?

HAYES: Through Victor Feldman. When he was with Woody—he came over here for a holiday, or something. It’s about ten years ago now. And we were working together in a club in town. I used to stand there behind him, listening all the time—and I fancied playing ‘em. So when he went back to the States, I bought the instrument off him, that he was using, and I started playing. But I just found that I didn’t have enough time. I’d go on a gig and by the time I’d set the vibraphone up, plugged it in and got about a 340–volt shock all up my arm—my hands are covered in grease, I’m sweating—then I’ve got to get the tenor out, and we’re on! And I’m exhausted In the end it got to the stage where I used to set the bloody thing up—and play the tenor all night! And then pack it all away again. I said: ‘What am I doing?’

NISTICO: Great. That’s a wild double, though!

HAYES: Another thing with that was—I started getting calls for studio work But it wasn’t just playing the vibes. They said. Right, will you bring a xylophone, a marimba, a glockenspiel.

NISTICO: Jeezus—you gotta hire a truck!

HAYES: I thought: ‘Well I think I’ll take up the flute’!

NISTICO: I can see you driving up in a truck, man, unloading all that stuff! Later—right?

HAYES: Right So you’ve always played a Conn, eh?

NISTICO: Well, before that I had a Buescher. Which is a good sound but boy, it’s a big feeling in the fingers, getting around it The Conn is the same principle blowing–wise—like, you blow and it feels like the metal is spreading. That’s why I think it would take me some time to get used to a Selmer. If I could do it, I think I would dig it, man—if I could find a Selmer with a good sound like you’ve got you know.

HAYES: Yes I’ve practically always played a Selmer. A couple of times, when I have played a Conn, I enjoy that sort of vibrant feeling, as you say.

NISTICO: I think, maybe it only speaks so that you hear it better yourself when you play it. Because I’ve heard cats with the Selmer, and it sounds better out front. It seems to be more compact, or something. Dexter has a Selmer now, man. Yes—he had an old 10M Conn, and went right to a Selmer. That’s a big change. I was talking to Ronnie Scott about changing from Conn to Selmer. He says it took him some time. Boy, he sure sounds good on it. And Dexter sounds the same to me. Even Gene Ammons—he made the same change, but he’s still got that old sound.

HAYES: Well I think basically your own sound comes through. To yourself at first it may sound strange, but it must come round eventually. I could never get on with a Conn, because I’ve got very small hands. I tried a King for a while—it had a similar vibrancy to the Conn and yet had the action of the Selmer. I liked it but I could not pitch the intervals—especially if I was going from, say, a top E or F down to G, or .something like that below. I gave it about two months try, but I just couldn’t play in tune I don’t know why.

NISTICO: Johnny Griffin used to play a King—he sounded beautiful. I heard Sonny’s playing a Buescher now. He got it from some guy who passed away in Belgium. He wanted this horn real bad and took a special flight over there to get it. But, of course he’s got a million horns I don’t know how he does it man—trying all those different horns and mouthpieces every night I could never do anything like that—it’s a little too much for me. But, I mean, Sonny—he’s a fantastic musician. Like he knows the tenor inside out, and he’s at that peak now where it doesn’t matter any more. He’s looking for something. I love ‘Trane, but Sonny can generate so much swing, you know. He gets around so good, man.

HAYES: Personally, if I’m happy with the horn I’ve got, the mouthpiece the set–up the reed and everything—then I’ve got enough problems trying to create something different, playing–wise, rather than keep messing around changing mouthpieces, instruments and all that. I remember, whan Sonny was first here last year, he gave Ronnie a mouthpiece. I’d had this mouthpiece of mine for four or five years—I bought it off Dick Morrissey before he went to India. So Ronnie went on to this one that Sonny gave him and tried Ronnie’s mouthpiece, which was much more open than mine. The first couple of nights I thought · ‘Yeah—this is it—whee!’ But there again your same sound comes through eventually. And I found that I was struggling, my lips were getting all cut inside, I had pains in the stomach, and all that! So I tried a Larsen. I’ve got a Larsen in my case there, if you want to try it.

NISTICO: I had a Don Menza mouthpiece, man. This friend of mine, who works with the Max Greger band—he’s making his own mouthpieces now. He’s trying to get halfway between a Larsen and a Link, which is what a lot of guys would like. And Bob Pierson, who, as you know, plays tenor with the band—he’s been using it the last week now, and he gets a perfect sound on it. I would love it, but I haven’t got the guts to try it on the band in the section. I’ll tell you—I’ve not really studied about mouthpieces and the bores and all that. I know very little of that stuff. I just put on something and if it plays for me, that’s the only way I know.

HAYES: Me too. If people say to me: ‘What do you think of the tone chamber?’ and ‘Has this got an open tone or a round tone?’ and all that, I can’t answer ‘em. I just put it in my , mouth and play it. If the reed suits me—okay. If not, I’ll try another one. But I know I’ve seen guys on studio jobs—every take they’ve got a different mouthpiece an3 they’re fiddling about with this, that and the other.

NISTICO: Oh, man—it becomes a real thing.

HAYES: Yes, it’s like a hypochondriac, really.

NISTICO: You can get completely messed up with that. Because I went through that one time in the band. For months I was hung up. I had a metal Berg Larsen for years, and I really should have stayed on it, I think. But I’ve wound up with this Link, and I feel that I get a warmer sound now. In general, I believe my playing has advanced a little in the last couple of years. Working in small groups for a spell was good for me. But, as we were saying, it seems like I’ve come to a standstill.

HAYES: Well, we’re not old men, or anything, and we want to try and keep up with the times. I mean, I don’t particularly like all the avant garde music that I’ve heard, but there’s a 1ot of things I do like.

NISTICO: But I don’t think you’re the type of musician that lets yourself get that restricted. You always fracture me, man. I think everybody should be a little bit dissatisfied, because there’s no standing still. You either move forward or you go backwards—that’s the way I’ve found it with me.

HAYES: Sure—if you get complacent, that’s the end of everything. In the last year or so I’ve felt, not that I’m playing badly, but that, having played a certain way for fifteen years in the business, I’ve come to this wall now. I don’t want to carry on coasting along the way I’ve been playing. I’m only thirty–one—I see no reason to give in now. I’m young enough to keep on into something else. But, at the same time, I don t want to just go and play completely another way just for the sake of it.

NISTICO: Grow naturally into it—that’s my philosophy, too. I believe the best way to improve is to play what you enjoy—right? To me that’s honesty. I mean, I’m twenty–five years old, and a lot of people say I play like an old man—dated and everything. But I don’t really hear a lot of this thing that’s going. I understand Sonny—he knocks me out. I would like to be as advanced as that. I didn’t think I had any talent until I was about thirteen or fourteen. Then I started losing myself into it, and I moved and improved all the way up until just three or four years ago. I don’t feel that I’ve improved so much since then, and it’s kinda bugging me, man.

HAYES: Well, you’ve had a lot of time in the big band, with so many choruses to play on a certain number at a certain tempo every night. But, whatever your playing circumstances, improvement can’t be just turned on with a switch. I don’t know about the New York scene so much, but there seem to be a lot of younger musicians here who are trying to be different for the sake of being different, without actually knowing the roots. They think jazz started with Ornette Coleman, and anything that went before they don’t know about. There are certain people—a guy like Jeff Clyne, who’s been around and knows his instrument thoroughly. What he’s doing is valid to me. But certain of the drummers around these avant garde places—I’ve heard them sit in on a normal gig and there ain’t nothing happening!

NISTICO: It’s like—I talked to Coltrane. He used to dig Arnette Cobb, Illinois Jacquet. Those guys have a firm foundation for what they’re doing. A lot of cats put down bebop, and they say it’s old and it’s dated, but that music’s not easy—it’s a challenge to play. You’ve got to know your instrument, your changes and what you’re doing.

HAYES: And then if you can go past that—and that is the point, I think, where we’re both at.

NISTICO: It’s amazing, Tubby. You speak exactly the way that I feel about music. If you can go into this new thing and still retain the meat, as I call it, it will have validity. There’s got to be some type of swing, some type of line, instead of just taking the paint and throwing it on the wall. What kind of expression is that? You can’t just detach something from the past. Everybody is related to everything. You don’t forget people like Charlie Parker. That man played as advanced as anybody can play.

HAYES: I can see the point with the kids, in a way. Because when I started playing, Parker was my idol, and I didn’t want to play in any earlier idiom, like swing or Dixieland. But I had listened to all that before, as a kid. And, at the same time, I had to settle down to learning how to play the instrument.

NISTICO: It’s a matter of really understanding the music, and not just affecting it. A lot of it sounds superficial, because I don’t think the guys know the meaning of communication with people.

John Paul Vaccaro (born 23 September 1939 in Trafford, Pennsylvania) is an American former sports marketing executive.

Vaccaro is probably best known for his tenure with Nike, Inc., and signed Michael Jordan to his first sneaker deal. Vaccaro left Nike for Adidas, then Reebok.[1] He founded the ABCD All America Camp, an elite showcase of high school basketball standouts, which ran from 1984 to 2007. It featured future stars Kobe Bryant, Sebastian Telfair, and LeBron James.[2] Vaccaro organized his first basketball event in 1965 in Pittsburgh.[3]

James Gandolfini is slated to play Vaccaro in an upcoming HBO movie ABCD Camp[4]

The Last Don
By Ric Bucher
ESPN The Magazine

The man responsible for the most points, rebounds, assists and highlight plays in NBA history is a diabetic and amnesiac who has avoided exercise since injury aborted his college football career 40 years ago. He's hobbling this particular morning, having sprained his ankle a day earlier getting the morning newspaper. John "Sonny" Vaccaro has long been cast as some kind of mafioso, strong-arming amateur basketball for much of his 63 years. And that's by people who haven't seen him shuffling unshaven at 9 a.m. in sweatpants and a T-shirt, showing off his Calabasas, Calif., tomato garden like Don Corleone.

Sonny Vacarro
No one has more influence on the prep game than Vaccaro.
Those people were going on the bloodhound eyes beneath a balding pate, the wide shoulders above a round belly, the thin lips framing a wide mouth and a cackle straight out of The Sopranos. Throw in the nickname, the Las Vegas family ties, the lifelong battle with certain authority figures, the pretty, blonde wife -- Pam, his second -- 19 years his junior and his way of greeting everyone with a hug or a kiss, and Sonny Vaccaro fits the wise-guy persona down to the last cannoli.

Which is precisely why inner-city kids identify with this old white guy who reads Gandhi, listens to golden oldies, still doesn't eat meat on Fridays and never played organized basketball. It's the same reason Scarface and The Godfather are on every NBA player's favorite-movie list. Any minority who has busted his or her butt to succeed and has suffered that you-must-be-crooked look can relate. Any old Italian guy with lots of friends and money must be shady. A young black kid with fresh hip-hop gear and a nice car must be a drug dealer.

Let's just say it stings a little more than being tagged a yuppie because your Land Rover has a chocolate Lab in the back.

"We are all not created equal," Sonny says. "That's a fallacy perpetuated by The Machine."

Vaccaro rose to power challenging The Machine -- a.k.a. the NCAA -- on behalf of poor, young (mostly black) athletes and their families, and for those scoring at home, the war is over. The NCAA continues to craft new legislation hoping to restrict Sonny and anyone like him from holding sway over young athletes, but the bottom line is that playing in college is no longer a prerequisite for a basketball career. Instead of schools making millions off players who then have to reach the next level for their cut, the money is going directly to the players themselves.

And that means Sonny has won.

It all started in 1965 with a high school all-star game, the Dapper Dan Roundball Classic, which Sonny ran in Pittsburgh, near his hometown of Trafford, Pa. Selection quickly became the most coveted prize a young player with collegiate hopes could get. Thirteen years later, Sonny approached Phil Knight and his fledgling Nike outfit, offering to challenge Converse's dominance of the basketball shoe market. He paid college coaches (who readily accepted) to outfit their teams in Nike apparel. In 1992, a second shoe war erupted when Vaccaro joined adidas, taking his array of events -- his all-star game, his AAU tournament and his weeklong summer camp -- with him.

His legacy includes hooking up Michael Jordan with Nike and Kobe Bryant with adidas, but Sonny's success has always been based on selling himself, not his product. When Jordan took him along on a private jaunt around Europe, he did it as a friend. Sonny never approached Kobe directly, but he moved to New York for six months so he could have Kobe's parents up from Philly every week for Sunday brunch.

Even though Sonny doesn't expect his newest star acquaintance, LeBron James, to sign with either adidas or Arn Tellem (Sonny's favorite agent), Vaccaro is as valued as ever. Reebok made a run at Sonny last July, and adidas subsequently re-upped him as director of sports development for as long as he wants to work. The NBA generations whose hoop livelihoods were boosted by Sonny now extend from Stu Jackson to Wally Walker to Byron Scott to T-Mac. "It's 20-plus years since I played in his game," says Walker, Sonics CEO and part owner. "But if he's on the phone, you pick it up."

His contacts go even beyond basketball -- Ulice Payne, the Milwaukee Brewers' new president, played in Sonny's game too.

Sonny's critics, though, believe that greed-driven adulation of young talent with NBA potential has undermined the game's quality and integrity, and that Sonny opened the door to no-holds-barred recruiting of AAU and college players. Sonny's stock reply: Providing talented players with perks went on long before he had anything to offer. Besides, the players' best interests have always come first for him. "You can't find a kid I've hurt," he says.

Neither the NCAA nor Nike, which charged him with corporate espionage, has been able to make anything stick. The only gripe from players is that Sonny plays favorites. But that's tempered by the acknowledgment that he'll help anyone. During his all-star game in Chicago last March, a scrawny fan came out of the stands and walked away with Sonny's home phone number.

"I was nobody coming out of high school," says Shaquille O'Neal. "But he always treated me nice. The better-known players got everything -- jackets and bags. But I was in a mismatched pair of raggedy shoes, and he made a phone call to get me a pair of size 17s."

The NCAA creates new restrictions every year for Vaccaro's ABCD Camp -- and only loses more ground by doing so. In a camp Q&A session with NCAA representatives this summer, Sonny challenged the byzantine edicts on how and when phone contact may be made between a player's family and a school's basketball staff. The players, who were mainly upset that new rules prohibited them from keeping their camp gear, chanted, "Son-ny! Son-ny!" and piped down only when Vaccaro asked that they show respect for the officials.

"I can't think of anyone who is more out of place in their vocation than me," Sonny says. "But I thank all these kids for my life. They validate me by playing in things I've been involved in."

He fully admits to endorsing Tellem and certain college coaches, but he balks at any inference that he offers enticements. He's quick to note that Kobe got his initial shoe deal even though he selected the William Morris Agency to represent him instead of Tellem. Same with Antoine Walker, who got a fat adidas contract and is not a Tellem client. Sonny's responsibility, as he sees it, is to accurately assess a kid's talent, then help him maximize his value in the basketball marketplace. His power is derived from an uncanny accuracy. For decades now, both players and coaches have sought and trusted his advice because he's told them the truth, sometimes at his own expense.

"Highly recruited players develop a keen sense real early about who is trying to help them and who is trying to get in their pocket," Walker says. "And Sonny has always come off as only wanting to help."

Vaccaro suffered a onetime, three-day memory loss at the French Open eight years ago, a form of amnesia that he now takes medicine to prevent. But he forgets neither favors nor slights. He routinely sends out dozens of birthday, anniversary and wedding presents. Yet he no longer speaks to George Raveling, once his friend and the best man at his second wedding, because Raveling suggested that Sonny's business wasn't good for basketball -- a position Vaccaro found particularly galling after Raveling, the ex-USC coach, became his Nike counterpart.

Everyone, though, is a friend until proven otherwise. "There's no prejudging on Sonny's part," says Clippers forward Lamar Odom, who signed with Nike even though Sonny got in trouble for buying him clothes while he was in high school. "If you're a C student, he doesn't assume you're dumb. If you need help, he's willing to give it. He treated me like family, and Pam is like a mother to everyone."

That may be the most precious enticement Sonny has in a world of single-parent and broken-home players. All are welcome to eat one of Pam Vaccaro's meals, talk to her about girlfriends or hang on Sonny's couch watching TV. "It's like you're going to see your aunt and uncle," says former Nuggets guard Darrick Martin. "Wherever he goes, I'll follow him until the day I stop playing."

Photos of Kobe and MJ and T-Mac share space on his home office walls with a framed photo of the Rat Pack that includes gambling chips and poker cards from the Sands Casino, as well as a canceled check to a Little League team from Dean Martin. He defiantly embraces his Italian heritage and Las Vegas ties -- his brother is a "consultant to the gaming industry" (i.e., casino oddsmaker) -- despite the innuendo they've fostered. His heroes -- Mario Andretti, Muhammad Ali and Roberto Clemente -- are represented as well, though the photos of Ali and Clemente are different from the rest. Both photos are taken from behind, offering glimpses of the world from a great but misunderstood athlete's perspective.

That's why Sonny is so powerful: No one in basketball has devoted more time to appreciating that view than him.

HERE ARE TWO REASONS WHY I LEARNED TO LOVE THE STANDARDS AND BECAME A JAZZ MUSICIAN, DORIS DAY AND THE MARY KAYE TRIO!

http://astore.amazon.com/jazzbird06-

i first heard standards such as BLUE SKIES, APRIL SHOWERS, THE BEST THINGS IN LIFE ARE FREE, I'M LOOKING OVER A FOUR LEAF CLOVER, TEA FOR TWO, DEEP PURPLE, ETC. WHEN I WAS AN INFANT. MY MOTHER KNEW THOSE TUNES. SHE'S NOT A PROFESSIONAL SINGER, BUT SHE LIKES LAWRENCE WELK, AND TO THIS DAY SHE SAYS I PLAY TOO MANY NOTES. IF YOU GO TO YOSHI'S ON JULY 24TH TO SEE ROBERTA GAMBARINI AND HANK JONES, YOU'LL MEET HER.

LATER WHEN I BEGAN PLAYING SAXOPHONE IN THE 6TH GRADE, MY DAD WHO NEVER FINISHED HIGH SCHOOL BOUGHT ME GEORGE GERSHWIN AND COLE PORTER BOOKS.
I LEARNED TO READ RATHER QUICKLY AND COULD PLAY THESE TUNES. I HAD NO IDEA I WOULD BE PLAYING THE SAME TUNES YEARS LATER, BUT I ENJOYED THEM. I KNEW THEY WERE BEAUTIFUL MELODIES. IT BROUGHT ENJOYMENT TO PLAYING THE SAXOPHONE WHEN WAS A KID. I DISLIKED PLAYING SCALES AND EXERCISES, BUT I LOVED TO PLAY TUNES. I DIDN'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT IMPROVISING.

SO WHEN I BEGAN GOING TO MOVIES AS A YOUNGSTER, I LOVED DORIS DAY. SHE WAS BEAUTIFUL AND COULD SING. I FIRST HEARD LOVE ME OR LEAVE ME, LOVED IT, BUT I DON'T PLAY IT. I SAW THE MARY KAYE TRIO AND OTHERS ON BLACK AND WHITE TELEVISION, LOVED THEM, NAT KING COLE, DINAH SHORE, I LOVED ALL THOSE SHOWS, PERRY COMO, THE VARIETY SHOWS, ED SULLIVAN, EDDIE CANTOR, MILTON BERLE, WHY BECAUSE I LOOKED FORWARD TO THE MUSIC. I LIKED THE DORSEYS, THE GLENN MILLER AND BENNY GOODMAN STORIES. I HAD NO IDEA WHO DUKE, BIRD, MILES, DIZ WERE, YET THEY WERE PLAYING BEBOP AT THE SAME TIME. I NEVER HEARD BEBOP. NO ONE EVER TOLD ME ABOUT BEBOP! IN OTHERWORDS MY FAMILY, RELATIVES, FRIENDS LOVED MUSIC, BUT THEY KNEW NOTHING ABOUT BEBOP! SEE HOW DEPRIVED I WAS AS A YOUNGSTER. I KNEW NOTHING ABOUT BEBOP. BUT WHEN I WAS IN HIGH SCHOOL, I BEGAN HEARING PAUL DESMOND; SO NATURALLY I TRIED TO SOUND LIKE HIM. BUT I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT I WAS DOING. NONE OF MY MUSIC TEACHERS KNEW JAZZ OR TAUGHT THEORY. THAT'S ONE REASON WHY IT TOOK ME SO LONG TO LEARN HOW TO PLAY.

I DIDN'T MEET DR. BILL BELL UNTIL I WAS COLLEGE AGE. BY THEN IT WAS TOO LATE FOR ME TO PLAY MUSIC. I HAD TO EARN A LIVING! BUT I RETURNED TO MUSIC. THAT'S WHAT YOU HEAR TODAY!!!

BIOGRAPHER: David Kaufman researched Day’s life, but the actress wouldn’t talk.A new biography looks into the shadows and 'Untold Story' of Doris Day
On screen, she was America's smiling, singing darling. But off screen, her husbands weren't Rock Hudson and her life was no light romp.
By Susan King, Los Angeles Times Staff Writer
July 5, 2008
HER LIFE on screen played like an American fairy tale.

Blond, bouncy and beautiful, Doris Day captivated mid-20th century moviegoers in a series of rollicking romantic comedies with her favorite leading man, Rock Hudson, including "Pillow Talk" and "Lover Come Back," as well as the western musical "Calamity Jane," Alfred Hitchcock's thriller "The Man Who Knew Too Much," the musical drama "Love Me or Leave Me" and many more.

A former singer with Les Brown's band in the 1940s, Day also was a bestselling recording artist whose trademark songs -- "Sentimental Journey" and the Oscar-winning "Que Sera, Sera" -- seemed to epitomize her upbeat spirit. During her years in the spotlight, Day was always portrayed as happily married -- to third husband and manager Martin Melcher -- and loving mother to son Terry.

But the real story couldn't be further from the truth, according to David Kaufman's expansive new biography, "Doris Day: The Untold Story of the Girl Next Door." captivated Instead it's a sad story -- partially told in the actress' 1975 autobiography -- of a talented woman who was unloved by her father, pushed by an ambitious stage mother, with four failed -- and mostly loveless -- marriages, who never got what she wanted: simply to have a happy home life.

"What is even sadder to me and what I have learned in the course of researching this book, interviewing people and from quotes from her own autobiography is how insecure she is about her looks and about her talents," said Kaufman, a theater critic and author.

"This woman has lived so much of her life unhappy with herself, I think, and yet she brought so much happiness to so many people all around the world," he added.

Now 86, Day has lived in Carmel for nearly 30 years and spends her time rescuing abandoned and wounded animals and overseeing the Doris Day Foundation for Animals. She doesn't do interviews and wouldn't talk with Kaufman.

"I did try to talk to her," he says. "I went into this project expecting that even if I would get to talk to her, she would not talk to me about her past because it is my understanding that she will not talk about the past. I think one of the reasons is the only way she could put some adversity behind her was by leaving the past and walking away from it and devoting all of her energies to pets. That is the only thing she wants to talk about."

Kaufman believes the reason the actress won't talk about her life is, "and this was the biggest surprise to me, is because she feels so completely disassociated from who 'Doris Day' was."

That's why her friends call her "Clara" -- a nickname bestowed upon her by one of her costars, Billy DeWolfe, years ago. "She signs her notes as Clara," Kaufman says. "She answers the phone as Clara."

A fan of her talent

When Kaufman began the book about eight years ago, he didn't know that much about the career or life of Doris Day, who was born Doris Kappelhoff in Cincinnati in 1922.

"There were 12 or 15 of her 30 films I never saw before I started researching the book," he says. "But I was an enormous fan and admirer of her talent. I always felt that her acting in particular was underestimated by the world at large. One of my primary motivations for doing this book was to hopefully remedy that, to have her talent become more recognized."

Unlike the brassy blonds of the 1930s and '40s, like Jean Harlow, Mae West and Betty Grable, Day was more the girl next door, both tomboyish and sexy. She fit perfectly into the zeitgeist of the 1950s -- a decade of prosperity, hope and wholesomeness. "She hoped to suggest that the world was OK," wrote David Thomson in "The New Biographical Dictionary of Film." "She was the home fire that refused to admit the Cold War. Above all, she was optimistic."

She turned in terrific dramatic performances in such films as "Love Me or Leave Me," in which she played singer Ruth Etting, and "The Man Who Knew Too Much," in which she played the mother of a kidnapped boy. And Day was also a deft romantic comedy star opposite Clark Gable in "Teacher's Pet," in her sex comedies with Hudson, as well as with James Garner.

"She is easy to deride," Thomson noted. "But her fans were devoted and her energy was authentic."

Kaufman interviewed several of Day's closest friends, including actress Kaye Ballard and choreographer Donald Saddler. He was aided in his efforts when columnist Liz Smith devoted a column to the book three years ago. "She basically declared this is the definitive book and that led to people . . . and they led to other people and it was like the house that Jack built."

Kaufman admits that Day's reputation as a movie star suffered in the mid- to late 1960s because Melcher kept producing romantic comedies in which the fortysomething actress was playing the same type of bouncy -- and often virginal -- heroine she did early in her career.

"The last handful of movies were schlock," says Kaufman. "They were atrocious. If Melcher had let her make 'The Graduate' -- it was a year before his death -- it could have taken her career and certainly a reputation to a certain other level."

Trying to understand

Though he tried to avoid armchair psychology in the book, Kaufman admits Day's choice of husbands, including her abusive first spouse -- musician Al Jorden -- and the bombastic Melcher, who was more a business partner than soul mate, are all connected to her horrible relationship with her father, William, who abandoned the family when Day was young.

"In essence what she was doing was constantly looking for people who reminded her of her father because she was hoping she would work out what she had not worked out with him. But in the process she just repeated the lousy relationship."

Kaufman believes that Day and Hudson, who was gay, became fast friends because "they realized they were the opposite of who they really were and they could really relate to each other," says Kaufman, adding "I don't think she's ever had a truly confidential, candid conversation with anybody on this earth. I don't think she is capable of being intimate."

Her passion for animals, Kaufman believes, is due to the fact that she unconsciously identifies with them. "Most people don't realize all the animals she has had, she got them because they were abandoned, left by her gate or sick or wounded in some way and she basically nursed them back to health. She identifies with these animals because she feels like a wounded animal. And she was a wounded and abandoned human being."

Kaye Heyday
Popular trio of the '50s and '60s left its mark on Las Vegas entertainment history

Plus:
• 'Price' Goes on the Road • Rita Re-Ups With NY-NY • E! Goes 'Wild' for Las Vegas

By LEN BUTCHER

I get a lot of e-mails from readers of this column who like when I write about some of the things that used to go on in our town, or the entertainers who performed here in what many locals call "the good old days." I happened to be talking to a friend of mine the other day, doing a bit of reminiscing, and the Mary Kaye Trio came up.

For those of you not familiar with the name, the Mary Kaye Trio was one of the hottest singing groups in the '50s and '60s, cutting some 15 albums and pulling down a cool million bucks a year. A lot of moolah in those days. (Notice how I use the right lingo -- moolah -- for that period. Clever, don't you think?) Okay, enough self-congratulations, Lenny, get on with the story.

Norman Kaye, who built a very successful real estate business in our town, remembers that they were "the first group to go from the lounge to the main room at the old Last Frontier. Evelyn Farney was the tap dancer, and there were separate billings for Herb Shriner and us."

The trio worked with all the major stars, including a young Ronald Reagan, who Norman says "just moved around with a couple of showgirls." He also remembers a night in 1957 when the great opera singer Mario Lanza couldn't show. "I could sing just like him, so I did, with the curtain down. The song was 'Be My Love', and everybody thought it was him. We were able to pull it off."

Norman and Mary Kaye started their singing careers at a very early age in Hawaii, where their father, Johnny Kaaihue, put them in the carnival circuit, performing 10 shows a day. Mary tells me her dad was the son of Prince Kuhio and was called Johnny Ukulele after the instrument he not only played, but popularized as well.

Mary actually made her debut at age 3, in a grass skirt at a carnival in St. Louis, while Norman, aged 6, strummed the ukulele. Their dad acted as the barker. Quite a life for a couple of young kids. At that time, they were known as the Kaiihue Trio, with their dad making up the threesome. They then became the Royal Hawaiians.

When Norman joined the army in 1943, an accordionist from Cleveland, Biagio Salvatore Rissario Bologna, took his place, later changing his name to Frank Ross. Two years later, Norman's stint ended and he rejoined the trio. They made a winning combination. Norman had this great baritone voice and played the trombone, vibraharp, piano, bass, guitar, alto horn and ukulele.

Mary was a virtuoso on the Spanish guitar and a singer with her own very distinct style, while Frankie provided the comic relief and was a master on the accordion. He could also hold his own in the singing department. As Mary says, "Frankie was the most beautiful ad-libber in the world, but he became one of the best part-singers in the world as well."

So in 1949, they found themselves playing the Strip at the Last Frontier, in the days when the Strip was just starting to come into its own, with headliners like Sophie Tucker, Joe E. Lewis and Edgar Bergen. And who was playing conga drums in the lounge? None other than Sammy Davis Jr.

While performing in the main showroom, the trio still did a few lounge shows in the early morning hours, and the casinos, which were kinda quiet during that period, soon picked up, much to the delight of the owners. For almost 20 years, the Mary Kaye Trio was a household name, especially in this town.

Aside from their 15 albums, they played hundreds of nightclubs around the country and the world. They followed Ethel Merman into the Talk of the Town in London; played La Vie En Rose in New York with Harry Belafonte and Buddy Hackett; and filled in for Perry Como on his TV show. Their hits included "Besame Mucho", "Get Happy", "They Didn't Believe Me", "Little Girl Blue", "I'll Remember April", "My Funny Valentine" and "April in Paris".

In 1961, they were paid the princely sum of $250,000 for a 22-week gig at the Sahara, and by 1966 the trio was earning a million dollars a year. It was also the year they ended their career as a trio, playing to a celebrity-packed house at the Tropicana. The main reason was that Norman had too many other business interests. It marked the end of an era for Las Vegas entertainment.

Recently, chatting in the Las Vegas Hilton coffee shop, Norman had this to say. "If you've got the talent and get lucky, you can make a buck. There are many variations on the road to success. Music is emotional. It is part of your soul." To musical wannabes, he gives this advice: "Try your wares on the local folks, where you're from. If you hone your skills to where everyone thinks you're sensational, do a three or four-minute videotape of your act. Then, in your most pretentious packaging, send them to people who might help." Good advice, especially from someone who's been there and succeeded.

NEEDLESS TO SAY, WE'LL MISS TIM! WITH OUR LEADERS LIKE BUSH, CHENEY, ROVE AND RUMSFELD LYING TO US, WE REALLY NEED DOZENS OF RUSSERTS!

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594
WHILE I HATE TO MAKE INVIDIOUS COMPARISONS, RUSSERT AND I SHARE A FEW SIMILARITIES. HE'S A BRILLIANT JOURNALIST WHILE I'M A STREET MUSICIAN IN SANTA MONICA, BUT OUR FATHER'S BEGAN WITH LIMITATIONS.

MY FATHER WAS NOT A GARBAGEMAN AS IN ALAMEDA, TRASH COLLECTING WAS LIMITED TO CERTAIN ETHNIC GROUPS LIKE ITALIANS. SO HE HAD TO DO WHAT ANY YOUNG MAN WHO NEVER GRADUATED FROM HIGH SCHOOL DID, HE PICKED FRUIT, WAITED ON TABLES, WASHED DISHES, OPENED A GROCERY STORE, LEARNED TO COOK CHINESE FOOD AND DOUGHNUTS.

LIKE TIM I WAS THE FIRST IN MY FAMILY TO GRADUATE FROM COLLEGE AND GRADUATE SCHOOL, THOUGH I HAD FOUR UNCLES WHO GRADUATED FRON THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, BERKELEY BEFORE I DID AND ONE UNCLE WAS THE FIRST CHINESE ORTHODONTIST TO GRADUATE FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA DENTAL SCHOOL. HE MADE MONEY, LIVED IN PIEDMONT, JOINED THE COLUMBIA RECORD CLUB; SO
WHEN HE HAD XMAS DINNERS AT HIS HOME, I HEARD DAVE BRUBECK, PAUL DESMOND FOR THE FIRST TIME, AND THEN I BEGAN TRYING TO PLAY LIKE DESMOND.

LIKE TIM, I'M A LAWYER WHO ALSO WORKED ON CAPITOL HILL AND SWITCHED TO JOURNALISM AND WORKED FOR NBC NEWS. AND WE BOTH KNOW MAUREEN ORTH, HIS WIFE. ME BECAUSE WE WERE CLASSMATES AT ALAMEDA HIGH SCHOOL WHERE SHE WAS AN ACTRESS, SINGER AND WHERE I PLAYED IN THE ORCHESTRA FOR SCHOOL PLAYS. SHE MAJORED IN JOURNALISM AT U.C., AND I MAJORED IN BUSINESS AND LAW. SHE BECAME FAMOUS AND MARRIED RUSSERT, AND I PLAY SAXOPHONE AND FLUTE.

WE BOTH LOVE AMERICA BECAUSE WE CAME FROM NOTHING TO BE ABLE TO BECOME SO-CALLED PROFESSIONALS, AND HE DID WHAT HE LOVED, POLITICS AND NEWS, AND ME, POLITICS, NEWS AND MUSIC.

WE BOTH RECOGNIZE THAT TO HAVE A GREAT COUNTRY, WE NEED LEADERS WHO GOVERN FOR THE PEOPLE AND NOT THEMSELVES! HE DID HIS THING IN FRONT OF MILLIONS IN THE WORLD. ME, I WRITE AND SEND OUT EMAILS!

75 YEAR OLD DEMETRIOUS IS A GOOD EXAMPLE OF EATING RIGHT, EXERCISING AND LIVING WELL!

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594
Posted by Picasa

if i keep writing about eating right and exercising, maybe i'll do it and be like HANK JONES, BENNY CARTER, JAMES MOODY , KENNY BURRELL, AND MY NEW FRIEND DEMTRIOUS.

demetrious is a great guy because he loves sinatra and jazz; so he comes down to listen to me often. he's trim , eats right an walks a lot, in fact all over the place. he lives in and takes care of a home of a famous actress, walks to santa monica, venice etc. so he often comes to the promenade to listen to me.

yesterday we talked at length for the first time. usually i greet everyone who comes up to me, but i never get in long conversations unless it's someone like BOB UDKOFF, DUKE' ROAD MANAGER OF 50 YEARS. (READ at www.wenjaz.blogspot.com )

but i often wonder about people, why they would want to listen to me or like jazz.

well it so happens, demetrious loves to sing and used to sing along with ole BLUE EYES. well one day in manhattan he was making sandwiches at a restaurant called IN THE WEE SMALL HOURS, a great name because in NYC, it's always IN THE WEE SMALL HOURS, and anyone involved in nyc nightlife is always hungry IN THE WEE SMALL HOURS.

so who should pop in when demetrious was making sandwiches but OLE BLUES EYES himself. he owned the restaurant along with his bodyguard JILLY RIZZO.

SINATRA says kid, "MAKE ME A PASTRAMI SANDWICH". demetrious replies, "mr. sinatra, here's one already made, and no one's picked it up yet." "GIVE IT TO ME KID, I'M HUNGRY". sinatra goes to his bill fold, peels off a new crisp hundred dollar bill and gives to DEMETRIOUS. well even in the 50s, a hundred is a lot of money, and demetrious is on cloud nine. he met his hero who gave him a hundred bucks.

well demetrious wanted to frame it , but as usual he had little money; so he had to spend it.

why was DEMETRIOUS broke all the time? he never made it past the 9th grade, was deslexic, joined gangs, did drugs, was in reformatory school, a tough guy, a boxer, but he is a smart dude, a survivor, living today well, is trim , has lots of girl friends, and the main thing he has his health by eating right and exercising.

he was raised in the bronx by a single father who emigrated from turkey after marrying his mother a war bride in greece. like many immigrants to survive he learned to cook, a sure fast way of survival. there's always food when you cook, and you can take home the leftovers. my father did the same thing, never made it to high school. started a small grocery store, we had plenty of meat and groceries, learned to cook chinese food then donuts, all to survive. my dad didn't have a chance to learn saxophone, but he loved it and bought me one.

demetrious didn't have vocal lessons; he just sang whenever he heard sinatra on the radio. he loved entertainers, became friends with richie havens and actually met miles and coltrane who i never met or saw in person. of course i never heard bird in person. that's why i have all these pics of bird, miles, coltrane. i saw dizzy several times, and with moody once. now i've met moody, and he has me in his top 40 on myspace. www.myspace.com/jamesmoody

in the 50s, demetrious was hanging around a miles gig and watched miles jot down tunes. i can't believe that miles actually had a tunes list. he had cannonball, coltrane, jimmy cobb, bill evans, ron carter. they didn't need a tune list. and later with herbie, wayne, ron and tony. they didn't need a tune list, miles just starts playing STELLA, and everyone knows what to do.

Two Studies Indicate We Can Live Longer, Better With Proper Diets

Reducing calories worked in one, DASH diet with exercise in the second

April 5, 2006 – Two studies released this week indicates that diets – one reducing calories and the other using the DASH diet – can make a significant contribution to longer life. Reducing calories, even without more physical activity, over six months resulted in a decrease in fasting insulin levels and body temperature, two biomarkers of longevity. The DASH study was of people with elevated blood pressure who increased physical activity while eating on the DASH plan, resulting in much lower hypertension and less risk of the major killers – heart disease and stroke.

Prolonged calorie restriction increases life span in rodents and other shorter-lived species. Whether this occurs in humans is unknown, according to background information in the article. One theory concerning the antiaging effects of calorie restriction is its impact on metabolism, including alterations in insulin sensitivity and signaling, neuroendocrine function, stress response, or a combination of these.

Leonie K. Heilbronn, Ph.D., of Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, La., and colleagues conducted a study to determine the effects of prolonged calorie restriction, with or without exercise, in overweight men and women.

The randomized trial, conducted between March 2002 and August 2004, included 48 healthy, sedentary men and women.

Participants were randomized to 1 of 4 groups for 6 months:

● control (weight maintenance diet);
● calorie restriction (25 percent calorie restriction of baseline energy requirements);
● calorie restriction with exercise (12.5 percent calorie restriction plus 12.5 percent increase in energy expenditure by structured exercise);
● very low-calorie diet (890 kcal/d until 15 percent weight reduction, followed by a weight maintenance diet).

FORMER CONGRESSMAN DAN HAMBURG SAYS "BUSH IS POISED TO MASSIVE ATTACK ON IRAN". WWW.SMMIRROR.COM

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594

FRIDAY WE FIRED SOME SHOTS AT IRANIAN GUN BOATS. DO THEY WANT TO PROVOKE US, OR ARE WE LEADING THEM ON????

HERE THE LATEST FROM SANTA MONICA'S VERSION OF THE NEW YORK TIMES!

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=From Editorials:
Is an Attack on Iran Imminent?
Dan Hamburg, Mirror Contributing Writer
George W. Bush is poised to order a massive aerial bombardment – possibly including tactical nuclear weapons – of up to 10,000 targets in Iran. The attack would be justified on grounds that Iran is interfering with U.S. efforts in Iraq and that Iran is developing a nuclear weapon, a charge that was debunked last fall in the National Intelligence Estimate (NIE).

According to international experts, the U.S. declared economic war against Iran on March 20. On that day, the U.S. Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) called on the world’s financial institutions to stop doing business with Iran, making it much more difficult for Iran to engage in global commerce.

Now the Bush administration is preparing to drop the other shoe. Below are some of the indications that a U.S. military attack on Iran is imminent:

The March 11 resignation of CENTCOM Commander Admiral William Fallon who, according to a well-publicized Esquire magazine article, “openly opposed Bush’s Iran policy and was a lone voice against taking military action to stop the Iranian nuclear program.”

The recent removal of Vice Admiral John Stufflebeem, Commander of the 6th Fleet (Mediterranean Sea), also known to be a critic of the administration’s war plans.

Two U.S. warships took up positions off Lebanon last month. According to US News & World Report, “The United States would want its warships in the eastern Mediterranean in the event of a military action against Iran.”

The United States has two aircraft carrier strike groups (the USS John C. Stennis and the USS Eisenhower) stationed in the Persian Gulf with at least one additional group reportedly on the way.

The Israeli air strike against Syria last September was advertised as an attack on a nuclear facility. Current speculation is that the real purpose of the raid was to “force Syria to switch on the targeting electronics for newly received Russian anti-aircraft defenses.” Knowing the electronic signatures of these systems would reduce the risks for U.S. and Israeli warplanes heading to Iranian targets.

Israel conducted its largest military exercises ever beginning the week of April 6. This exercise simulated missile strikes from Iran, Lebanon, and Syria. (Note: Both 9/11 and the London subway bombing of 7/7/07 occurred simultaneous by with military and/or civil defense exercises.)

One day after a March visit from Vice President Cheney, the Saudi government announced “national plans to deal with any sudden nuclear and radioactive hazards that may affect the kingdom.” This announcement came following warnings of possible attacks on Iran’s nearby Bushehr nuclear reactors.

According to former U.N. chief weapons inspector Scott Ritter, the Pentagon has contracted for additional bunker-buster bombs and planes that carry them. Delivery is due this month.

The oncoming monsoon season, which would carry radioactive fallout by wind and rain to countries east of Iran (including Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India), narrows the window for the optimal launch of an air attack.

Over the past six months, two major incidents have demonstrated the inadequate security of the U.S. nuclear arsenal. On August 30, 2007, a B-52 Stratofortress bomber carrying 6 AGM-129 Advanced Cruise Missiles, each armed with a W-80-1 nuclear warhead, flew an unauthorized mission from Minot AFB in North Dakota to Barksdale AFB in Louisiana. (Barksdale is the major disembarkation point for personnel and materiel going to the Middle East.) This “Bent Spear” incident marked the first time in more than 40 years that nuclear weapons had been flown across the continental United States. A spate of up to eight accidental deaths and suicides of personnel from these two bases adds an ominous twist to this story.

Recently, it was revealed that intercontinental ballistic missile fuses had been sent to Taiwan instead of the helicopter batteries they had ordered. Sharp protests from China forced President Bush to acknowledge the error personally to Chinese Premier Hu Jintao.

As a result of these incidents, Defense Secretary Robert Gates has ordered a series of investigations, including a recent order for a complete physical inventory of the entire U.S. nuclear arsenal.

The Bush administration is hypocritical in its claims that Iran cannot be trusted with nuclear weapons. Given the Minot/Barksdale incident and the mix-up between ballistic missile fuses and helicopter batteries, the question that should to be asked is: “Can the U.S. be trusted with nuclear weapons?”

According to the Union of Concerned Scientists, a “limited” nuclear attack on the main Iranian underground site in Esfahan would result in three million people killed by radiation within two weeks and 35 million people exposed to dangerous levels of radiation in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India.

Yet another preemptive attack and the devastation of another civilian population would be grossly immoral and in violation of all international codes of conduct. No one can predict how such an attack would end, especially in the tinderbox that is the Middle East. Every patriotic American, and especially every member of Congress, should do whatever is in their power to stop the Bush-Cheney cabal before they drag us into World War III.

BAGHDAD, Iraq - The fortress-like compound rising beside the Tigris River here will be the largest of its kind in the world, the size of Vatican City, with the population of a small town, its own defense force, self-contained power and water, and a precarious perch at the heart of Iraq’s turbulent future.

The new U.S. Embassy also seems as cloaked in secrecy as the ministate in Rome.

“We can’t talk about it. Security reasons,” Roberta Rossi, a spokeswoman at the current embassy, said when asked for information about the project.
Story continues below ↓advertisement

A British tabloid even told readers the location was being kept secret — news that would surprise Baghdadis who for months have watched the forest of construction cranes at work across the winding Tigris, at the very center of their city and within easy mortar range of anti-U.S. forces in the capital, though fewer explode there these days.

The embassy complex — 21 buildings on 104 acres, according to a U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee report — is taking shape on riverside parkland in the fortified “Green Zone,” just east of al-Samoud, a former palace of Saddam Hussein’s, and across the road from the building where the ex-dictator is now on trial.

The Republican Palace, where U.S. Embassy functions are temporarily housed in cubicles among the chandelier-hung rooms, is less than a mile away in the 4-square-mile zone, an enclave of American and Iraqi government offices and lodgings ringed by miles of concrete barriers.

5,500 employees at the embassy
The 5,500 Americans and Iraqis working at the embassy, almost half listed as security, are far more numerous than at any other U.S. mission worldwide. They rarely venture out into the “Red Zone,” that is, violence-torn Iraq.

This huge American contingent at the center of power has drawn criticism.

“The presence of a massive U.S. embassy — by far the largest in the world — co-located in the Green Zone with the Iraqi government is seen by Iraqis as an indication of who actually exercises power in their country,” the International Crisis Group, a European-based research group, said in one of its periodic reports on Iraq.

State Department spokesman Justin Higgins defended the size of the embassy, old and new, saying it’s indicative of the work facing the United States here.

“It’s somewhat self-evident that there’s going to be a fairly sizable commitment to Iraq by the U.S. government in all forms for several years,” he said in Washington.

Higgins noted that large numbers of non-diplomats work at the mission — hundreds of military personnel and dozens of FBI agents, for example, along with representatives of the Agriculture, Commerce and other U.S. federal departments.

They sleep in hundreds of trailers or “containerized” quarters scattered around the Green Zone. But next year embassy staff will move into six apartment buildings in the new complex, which has been under construction since mid-2005 with a target completion date of June 2007.

Iraq’s interim government transferred the land to U.S. ownership in October 2004, under an agreement whose terms were not disclosed.

“Embassy Baghdad” will dwarf new U.S. embassies elsewhere, projects that typically cover 10 acres. The embassy’s 104 acres is six times larger than the United Nations compound in New York, and two-thirds the acreage of Washington’s National Mall.

Estimated cost of over $1 billion
Original cost estimates ranged over $1 billion, but Congress appropriated only $592 million in the emergency Iraq budget adopted last year. Most has gone to a Kuwait builder, First Kuwaiti Trading & Contracting, with the rest awarded to six contractors working on the project’s “classified” portion — the actual embassy offices.

Higgins declined to identify those builders, citing security reasons, but said five were American companies.

The designs aren’t publicly available, but the Senate report makes clear it will be a self-sufficient and “hardened” domain, to function in the midst of Baghdad power outages, water shortages and continuing turmoil.

It will have its own water wells, electricity plant and wastewater-treatment facility, “systems to allow 100 percent independence from city utilities,” says the report, the most authoritative open source on the embassy plans.

Besides two major diplomatic office buildings, homes for the ambassador and his deputy, and the apartment buildings for staff, the compound will offer a swimming pool, gym, commissary, food court and American Club, all housed in a recreation building.

Security, overseen by U.S. Marines, will be extraordinary: setbacks and perimeter no-go areas that will be especially deep, structures reinforced to 2.5-times the standard, and five high-security entrances, plus an emergency entrance-exit, the Senate report says.

Higgins said the work, under way on all parts of the project, is more than one-third complete.

GOD IS NOT GREAT, HOW RELIGION POISONS EVERYTHING! BY CHRISTOPHER HITCHENS

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594
here are some comments, not mine, but rather appropriate i think!

92 of 120 people found the following review helpful:
5.0 out of 5 stars Hidden Under Class, May 9, 2007
By Big John Stud "bjs62" (Auburn, CA) - See all my reviews
There is a hidden under class of well educated professionals who see the universe with their eyes, who are rational and make decisions based upon evidence. No group has been pushed more underground in America than agnostics and atheists, more so than even gay culture, which has found a voice in the larger mainstream culture. Hitchens dares to say what so many others dare not say even socially, silenced because of the potential ramifications in the work place where hiring and promotions can be affected. This under class understands that stem cells offer hope, the fossil record proves evolution, and that global warming is real. The under class also knows that woman did not emerge from Adam's Rib, Lot's wife did not turn into a pillar of salt, dinosaurs were not on Noah's Ark, and that the world is not 6,000 years old.

The bible is a collection of moral fables that one can draw lessons from, not the literal truth. Ethics underwrite religion and we do not need these silly stories to lead a moral life. The danger lies in a literalist view of the bible that is influencing education and government policy. We do not need these fables in the classroom, masquerading "intelligent design" as science. Evangelicals, please keep your flat earth ignorance to yourself, rather than pushing them upon every school child in America. Like smoking, do it in your home, not in the public square.

We were founded as a secular nation for good reason, but this artifice has been eroded. The Christian right is successfully forcing "their" God, "their" political views upon everyone and it is dangerous. Evangelicals view the rapture as imminent and welcome government policy that encourages strife in the Middle East in order to hasten Armageddon (See Chris Hedges' book American Fascists). Pat Robertson and other tele-evangelists raced to the Middle East to broadcast the rapture live as Israel recently advanced into Lebanon. This craziness will get us all killed. There is a future for your children and your grand children. Armageddon and rapture is not imminent. It's a hoax like the mother ship behind the Hale-Bopp comet and Y2K. It's time the under class found its voice and stepped out of the shadows. We've progressed 2,000 years. We know so much more. No more Dark Ages.

STREET PERFORMER IN BARCELONA!

"WE SHALL OVERCOME", 3 weeks before King was assasinated he preached in socal.

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594

the theme of doctor king's sermon that day in south l.a. was "the meaning of hope", quite similar to what obama is preaching today.

we'll we continue to need hope, change and discipline! today's public education in the less privileged areas of our nation are graduating very few. the nation's capitol, emeryville and oakland, cali, south los angeles, most students are not making it to high school.

THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM THAT MOST ON MY EMAILING LIST DON'T FACE. EVERYONE WHO GETS MY EMAIL HAS A COMPUTER OBVIOUSLY. but most of these other kids don't. some of my friends kids's all ready own NOTE BOOKS with safari which i'm using to blog for the first time, and it's terrific.

SO IT'S REALLY THE HOME ENVIRONMENT WHICH MUST BE CHANGED OR ASSISTED. MANY, MANY KIDS IN THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS ARE SEARCHING FOR LOVE. EVEN RICH KIDS SEARCH FOR LOVE. BUSY RICH PARENTS OFTEN DON'T PROVIDE THE LOVE AND ATTENTION NECESSARY TO PRODUCE A SELF SUFFICIENT KID WITH A PASSION FOR LIFE. MUSIC CERTAINLY HELPS TO GIVE ONE PASSION AND DISCIPLINE AS WELL AS SPORTS.

there really is no one who gives these kids one on one guidance that they need. some have no parents. some have only one parent. there are not enough mentoring programs like CREATE NOW!

a perfect example of the home environment being the key is my experience going to the UCLA DENTAL CLINIC where i'm going for a full mouth restoration plus crowns. many have fallen through neglect the past decade even though i brush and floss all the time. saxophone players must play with a clean mouth.

when i first arrived at the clinic, i was shocked to see that all the dental students were lovely asian women. in my day, many of
the dental students were asian men.

why no african american students, latino students, even white students. if they are white, they are generally jewish.

THE MAIN REASON I BELIEVE IS THAT THE ASIAN, JEWISH LIFE HAS BEEN BASED ON BOOK LEARNING FOR CENTURIES.

CONFUCIANISM, BUDDAHISM, REQUIRE BOOK LEARNING. CHINA INVENTED PRINTING, BOOKS ET AL. THE JEWS WERE TRASHED EVERYWHERE; EVERYTHING WAS STOLEN FROM THEM EVERYWHERE. ALL THEY HAD LEFT WAS THEIR BRAIN CARRIED FROM COUNTRY TO COUNTRY BY THEIR TWO LEGS.

my father told me of my ancestors who were circuit judges in china, dispensing justice pony express style . to do this one had to pass a civil service exam, china the creator of the civil service examination system.

so you have to look at your ancestry and traditon for the desire to learn via books.

let's study africa. i'm no expert, but i know africans have the most sophisticated rhythms in the world, a neccessity to communicate great distances by sound which carried on flat desert without obstacles. so naturally some great african leaders were drummers or percussionists.

so you see all cultures have their own way of communication and learning.

but today in the 21st century you need book learning to survive. that's why obama's old man got scholarships and studied and fathered children all over the world.

so what we have today is a man from everywhere to take charge of this country and make some change.

OUT OF MANY, WE ARE ONE!

i know a lot about jazz, a little about politics, even less about celebrities, but this interested me, as i was in owen's DRILLBIT TAYLOR!

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594

while this movie had a lot of pub, and even i went to it for 20 minutes and walked out after i saw myself, and people have been emailing me from all the world saying they saw me in the movie, despite my box office appeal, the movie according to some of my knowledgeable friends won't make money.

IT COST ABOUT TEN MILLION TO FILM AND ANOTHER 20 OR 30 MILLION TO PUB. IT GROSSED TEN MILLION THE FIRST WEEKEND, BUT NOW IT'S LOST. OBVIOUSLY OWEN AND I DON'T HAVE THE DRAW WE USED TO.

OWEN TRIED TO KILL HIMSELF. THIS MAY HAVE HURT BOX OFFICE, AND NO ONE KNOWS ME. like i said i walked out after 20 minutes. even dvd sales will not put this movie into the black. that's why my friend who owns oil wells and wants to produce movies to get women, won't produce any more films. he can't stand the movie crowd even though he wants young chicks. now he just puts them on his payroll after spotting them on the promenade.

who really gives a shit about owen, jennifer anniston and kate hudson?

maybe this new movie with jennifer anniston might put owen back into box office. anniston alone will make her nut. my mother loves cute kate hudson, crossroads high, santa monica, goldie's daughter. she goes to lakers games. i never met kate hudson. jennifer garner yes, but not kate hudson.

who knows maybe i have a chance to become a celebrity gossiper; i talk with everyone when i'm not playing music. it's really fun to meet all kinds of people. i was just filmed by a barcelona film maker who says he's going to bring me to barcelona to play jazz.

so i did an acapella version of AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL like ray charles. when i finished i said, THIS WAS FOR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE" NOT BUSH.

so the filmaker says to me,"YOU JUST MADE MY DOCUMENTARY."

so i said, i don't like cold weather, but if you pay for everything and allow me to play at SUNDANCE, and hang with bobby redford, i'll go. I'LL EVEN TO TO THE TELLURIDE JAZZ FESTIVAL, if someone pays me.

otherwise i'm staying in samo and sleeping on my temperpedic.

SO MUCH FOR HOLLYWOOD, UNLESS THERE'S FURTHER DEMAND.

MY MY SPACE FRIEND CAROLINE NGYUEN WAS DATE RAPED IN SOCAL. I'VE ONLY KNOWN CAROLINE FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS ONLINE.

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594
I BEGAN RECORDING TUNES FOR HER SEVERAL YEARS AGO AS SHE'S AN ASIAN ACTIVIST AND AN OBAMA PERSON LIKE ME.

WE HAVEN'T BEEN IN CONTACT OVER THE YEARS, AND I DIDN'T THINK ABOUT CREATING AN ENTIRE BLOG OF 20 TUNES FOR HER AS I HAVE FOR OTHER MODELS. SHE WAS ALWAYS TOO BUSY RIGHTING THE WRONGS OF THE WORLD, AND I DIDN'T THINK SHE HAD TIME TO LISTEN TO MUSIC ON A REGULAR BASIS.

IF WE HAD BECOME CLOSER FRIENDS AND HAD I KNOWN SHE WOULD MOVE TO SOCAL, MAYBE I COULD HAVE HELPED HER. I DEFINITELY WOULD NOT HAVE RAPED HER. AT FIVE ELEVEN SHE'S TALLER THAN ME.

ANYWAY SHE WAS BRAVE ENOUGH TO POST HER ORDEAL AT WWW.MYSPACE.COM/CAROLINENGUYEN, AND IF SHE WANTS TO TAKE LEGAL ACTION, YOU KNOW I HAVE A LOT OF GREAT LAWYER FRIENDS INCLUDING TOM MESEREAU.

last night's appearance by spears on tv shows she will probably be able to maintain her million dollars per month lifestyle.

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594
while she may never come close to being jolie, she'll make enough to continue her clubbing and boozing.

she can't sing worth a damn, but she can dance.

she's a role model for all the stage parents i meet who are exploiting their kids on the third st. promenade and getting them ready to become a mousekateer or a future beyonce. some of these kids bring in $500 per day for their parents. while i'm sitting there playing my ass off, i might get ten bucks, just enough to pay the homeless guys who help me, but not enough for any new reeds.

occasionally my friend helen reddy might come down and drop a hundred on me, likewise donald sutherland, johnny mandel gave me 20, jennifer garner, five bucks and duke's road manager five bucks, but he comes down and tells me about his life with duke WWW.WENJAZ.BLOGPOT.COM

miracles happen. there was a young lady, a teenaged mixed raced streisand sensation who sang nightly, with her mother carrying her amps and sound system. finally after a few years, she was discovered and got the role of POCAHANTAS on broadway and also the movie. so i don't see her very often; however others say she returns to the promenade to reminisce about the hard times.

also ADAM HO, vietamese guitarist, vocalist who follows me in the owen wilson movie DRILLBIT TAYLOR began knowing only one tune, SANTANA'S BLACK MAGIC WOMAN or something like that. he was a little kid and was a sensation. now he's a teenger, the breadwinner of the family and booked all over southeast asia and at orange county malls.

i'm in my 9th year in santa monica, and people like my sound over KENNY G'S, but he makes 38 million a year, and i'm close to getting evicted.

maybe i have to lose some more weight, still at 10 lbs since xmas.

EVA LONGORIA OPENED HER NEW RESTAURANT LAST WEEKEND. I DIDN'T GO. NO JAZZ!

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594

however the restaurant i want to go to is MELISSE www.melisse.com about six blocks from me in santa monica. it's rated the top restaurant in socal, maybe equal to LE FRANCAIS in wheeling il where i went to twice before leaving chicago. BELIEVE ME THAT'S GOOD RESTAURANT EQUIVALENT TO LE CIRQUE IN NY.

I HAD THE PLEASURE OF MEETING AND PLAYING FOR 2 YEAR OLD ELLIOTT JACK TODAY, GRANDSON OF THE LATE COMPOSER CONDUCTOR JACK ELLIOTT.

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594

young elliott while only 2 shows the genius signs of his grandfather. he loves music and already shows he can focus and concentrate on what i was playing. i've been playing for kids for 20 years, and not many young kids can focus like this. i've also played for benny carter's grandson, but they don't live in santa monica like young elliott who i hope to groom into a bebopper. his mother is a dancer, and his uncle is a composer, but no beboppers.

when i see him again, i'll take his pic and post it. however he's very handsome and resembles a young BARACK OBAMA, you can see, the making of a young terrorist in INDONESIA. since elliott is only 2, he will never meet his grandfather except through music.

JACK ELLIOTT PASSED IN 2001 AT 74. HE CONDUCTED 33 GRAMMY BROADCASTS IN A ROW, WAS A JAZZ PIANIST, HUNG OUT WITH QUINCY IN PARIS, FOUNDED THE AMERICAN PHILHARMONIC, THE HENRY MANCINI INSTITUTE, COMPOSED MUSIC FOR 100 EPISODES OF CHARLIE'S ANGELS AND MUCH, MUCH MORE.

i had the pleasure of performing with THE CALMONT ELEMENTARY STUDENT CHOIR TODAY.

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594

THE CHOIR IS DIRECTED BY ANNIE HALL, MOTHER OF ARSENIO. THE STUDENTS WERE QUITE GOOD AND ADVANCED FOR THEIR AGE. THIS IS THE TYPE OF SCHOOL WHERE YOU WANT TO SEND YOUR KIDS, A PRIVATE SCHOOL WHICH IS PREPARING STUDENTS FOR HIGHER EDUCATION AT AN EARLY AGE. IT'S VERY DIFFICULT TO FIND STUDENTS THIS ADVANCED IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS. ALSO YOU DON'T FIND VOLUNTEER TEACHERS AS CAPABLE AS ANNIE HALL WHOSE STYLE IS ALONG THE LINES OF ETTA JAMES. SHE WANTS TO PERFORM WITH ME IN THE FUTURE. SHE KNEW MICHAEL WOLFF, ARSENIO'S FORMER MUSICAL DIRECTOR WHO I PLAYED WITH AT THE COLLEGE OF ALAMEDA.

I WAS SURPRISED AT THEIR BROAD REPERTOIRE AT THEIR AGE (BELOW SIXTH GRADE) AND THEIR ABILITY TO ACCENT THE OFF BEATS. THERE ARE POTENTIAL MOUSEKATEERS IN THIS CHOIR. (WHO KNOWS THEY MIGHT END UP LIKE CRAZY BRITANY SPEARS.)

AS WE APPROACH THANKSGIVING, LET'S NOTE THAT THERE ABOUT 125,000 HOMELESS IN THE LOS ANGELES AREA WITH THOUSANDS IN SANTA MONICA.

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594
THERE WAS A WALK TODAY TO TO RAISE MONEY FOR THE HOMELESS, AND THIS BOOK OF PORTRAITS OF THE HOMELESS "FINDING GRACE" BY FORTUNE 500 ACS CEO LLOYD BLODGETT GENERATES FUNDS FOR THE HOMELESS.

I'VE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH HOMELESS IN SANTA MONICA FOR THE 7 YEARS I'VE BEEN HERE. I WOULD SAY 70 TO 90 PERCENT ARE ADDICTED TO DRUGS OR ALCOHOL. IT'S NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO HELP THEM BECAUSE THEY HAVE TO WANT TO HELP THEMSELVES, AND THEY JUST DON'T HAVE THE WILL POWER.

ALSO IF THEY WANT TOO, THEY DON'T HAVE THE STRENGTH AND FORTITUDE TO OVERCOME THE OBSTACLES. THEY MIGHT NEED OTHER MEDICATION. DEPRESSION COULD SET IN. GETTING A JOB IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE. IF ONE IS ADDICTED TO SOMETHING, THERE'S NO WAY, THE INDIVIDUAL COULD WORK.

WHY THEY TRY TO STAY ALIVE IS BEYOND ME. IT SEEMS MUCH EASIER TO KILL YOURSELF. ALSO THERE ARE INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE NO MORAL CONSCIENCE AND WHO BEGAN TO LIE THE MINUTE THEY ESCAPED FROM THE WOMB. BUT THERE ARE ALSO SOME GOOD PEOPLE WHO ARE VICTIMS OF UNFORTUNATE CIRCUMSTANCES.

THERE IS SHELTER AVAILABLE, NOT MUCH , BUT THERE IS SOME. BUT THESE GUYS WON'T ACCEPT THE SHELTER BECAUSE THERE ARE ALWAYS RULES AND REGULATIONS. IN OTHER WORDS IF ONE ACCEPTS FREE SHELTER, YOU HAVE TO FOLLOW THE RULES, AND SOME OF THESE PEOPLE WON'T DO THAT. IF YOU ACCEPT FREE FOOD, THERE ARE A FEW RULES ONE MUST FOLLOW, AND SOME OF THESE PEOPLE WON'T EVEN ACCEPT THE RULES.

I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE ANSWER IS. YOU COULD PROVIDE LOTS OF FREE FOOD AND HOUSING, BUT SOME WILL STAY ON THE STREET.

THE GEM SHOW IN BURMA IS NOT GOING TOO WELL THIS YEAR.

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594
WE WOULD LOVE TO HAVE ALL THIS JADE AND RUBIES WHICH HAVE BEEN TREASURED BY PEOPLES OF THE WORLD FOR OVER A THOUSAND YEARS, BUT CARTIER AND TIFFANY AND THE FAMOUS JEWELERS OF THE WORLD ARE BOYCOTTING GEMS FROM BURMA AND RIGHTLY SO.

THIS IS TAKING A NICE CHUNK OUT OF THE MILITARY JUNTA'S FINANCES. THEY MAKE CLOSE TO 100 MILLION A YEAR FROM RUBIES ALONE, THE BEST RUBIES IN THE WORLD ARE FROM BURMA. THE MILITARY IS STILL HOLDING HUNDREDS IN JAIL. PEOPLE ARE STILL PROTESTING, BUT BURMESE PROBLEMS ARE OFF OUR RADAR SCREEN BECAUSE OF THE PAKISTAN SITUATION.

BUSH SEEMS TO BE SCREWING THIS SITUATION UP TOO. YOU HAVE TO RECOGNIZE THAT PAKISTAN AND ITS NUCLEAR WEAPONS ARE CONTROLLED BY THE MILITARY. IF YOU PUSH TOO HARD FOR DEMOCRACY, AND I WANT DEMOCRACY AS MUCH AS ANYONE, YOU COULD THROW THE COUNTRY INTO CHAOS.

WHO DO YOU THINK WILL CONTROL THE NUCLEAR WEAPONS IF THAT'S THE CASE?

RIGHT NOW WE HAVE TO DEAL WITH THE MILITARY. THEY CONTROL THE COUNTRY AND OUR ACCESS TO AFGHANISTAN AND AL QAEDA. WE SUPPLY OUR TROOPS THROUGH PAKISTAN. WE BUY THEIR OIL FOR OUR TROOPS. IT'S TOO BAD, BUT WE MUST DEAL WITH THEM. IF THERE'S CHAOS, EVEN AL QAEDA OR THE TERRORISTS COULD GRAB THE NUCLEAR WEAPONS.

CHINA ANNOUNCED THEY WILL PROSECUTE AND JAIL ANY PROTESTORS DURING THE OLYMPICS. WELL WE HAVE THE POTENTIAL OF THE OLYMPIC MASSACRE OF 2008 HERE. LIKE THE TIANANMEN MASSACRE, WE CAN WATCH IT LIVE ON HDTV. THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE WHO WILL PUT THEIR LIVES ON THE LINE FOR HUMAN RIGHTS.

IF MOST OF US COULD HAVE FOUGHT DURING WWII, THERE'S NO QUESTION WE WOULD HAVE DONE SO, VIETNAM, IRAQ, HELL NO!

ENJOY THE WEEKEND DESPITE THE WEATHER CHANGE ALL OVER THE COUNTRY.

Wednesday, November 14, 2007

IT'S GREAT THAT KEN BURNS'S WAR CONTINUES TO SHOW ON A PBS STATION BECAUSE IT'S DIFFICULT TO WATCH ALL AT ONCE.

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594
HOWEVER THERE'S ALWAYS SOMETHING TO GARNER FROM THIS HISTORICAL REMINDER.

FOR ME IT'S NOT ONLY THE TREMENDOUS SACRIFICE OF THOUSANDS OF AMERICANS WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES SO WE CAN SIT HERE BLOGGING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT, BUT IT'S ALSO THE ENTIRE WAR EFFORT, THE 24/7 ECONOMIC DYNAMO WHICH SUPPORTED THE WAR AT HOME.

INCIDENTAL TO THE 24/7 EFFORT WAS THE 24/7 ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY. IN THAT I SEE MY LOVE, REVOLUTIONARY BEBOP MUSIC WHICH EVOLVED DURING THAT PERIOD, MUCH OF IT DUE TO THE FACT THAT MUSICIANS PLAYED AROUND THE CLOCK. THIS MUSIC IS SO DIFFICULT TO LEARN THAT MUSICIANS LEARNED IT LITERALLY BY PLAYING AROUND THE CLOCK. THEY TOOK NAPS AND KEPT ON JAMMING.

THE WAR PERIOD ALSO LAID THE FOUNDATION FOR THE CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT BECAUSE IF YOU GAVE YOUR LIFE FOR YOUR COUNTRY, YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO USE ANY FACILITY, GO TO ANY SCHOOL AND LIVE ANYWHERE YOU WANTED.

MY FAMILY KNOWS ABOUT THIS BECAUSE WE HAD TROUBLE BUYING A HOME IN THE EAST END OF ALAMEDA, CA.

SENATOR DANIEL INOUYE KNOWS ABOUT THIS BECAUSE HE WAS ONE OF THE FEW JAPANESE AMERICANS ALLOWED TO PROVE TO AMERICA THAT HE WAS AN AMERICAN. HIS ARM WAS SHOT OFF, AND SINCE HIS UNIT THE 442ND WAS ATTACHED TO A BLACK ARMY UNIT, HE RECEIVED 17 BLOOD TRANSFUSIONS FROM HIS UNIT. AND WITHOUT DOUBT HE BECAME ONE OF THE MOST SOULFUL SENATORS IN THE UNITED SENATE HISTORY.

ALSO WITHOUT THE SACRIFICES DURING WWII, KANYE WEST COULD NOT HAVE BECOME THE RAP STAR AS HE IS TODAY. THE DOCTOR WHO BOTCHED HIS MOTHER'S SURGERY COULD NOT HAVE HUNG HIS SHINGLE IN BRENTWOOD AND COMMITTED OTHER MALPRACTICE SITUATIONS AND A SEXUAL BATTERY.

IN FACT O.J. WOULD NEVER HAVE MARRIED NICOLE AND WOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN ABLE TO BUY A HOME IN BRENTWOOD. AND THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN NO DOUBLE MURDER.

ALL THIS BECAUSE OF WWII.

SANTA MONICA BEACH, CALIFORNIA. NOVEMBER 11TH VETERANS DAY WEEKEND.

Sunday, November 04, 2007

TODAY VOLUNTEERS WILL TRY AND PLACE NEARLY 3900 CROSSES ON THE SANTA MONICA BEACH.

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594
TO VIEW THIS PROCESS GO TO
AND CLICK DOCUMENTARIES, "A LINE IN THE SAND".

THIS WAS FILMED IN 2004 WHEN ONLY 904 CROSSES WERE PLACED. NOW THE TASK IS MUCH MORE DIFFICULT EVERY SUNDAY.

LINK TV IS BROADCASTING TODAY A DOCUMENTARY "BELONGING" ABOUT A 26 YEAR OLD CAMBODIAN LADY WHO RETURNS TO CAMBODIA TO LOOK FOR HER PARENTS.

SHE WAS ADOPTED BY A BRITISH FAMILY DURING THE FALL OF PHNOM PENH. (THE KILLING FIELDS OF KHMER ROUGHE, 2 MILLION DEAD)

THIS DOCUMENTARY BESIDES TELLING HER STORY WILL GIVE YOU A GLIMPSE OF A POOR COUNTRY WHICH WILL SOON RECEIVE BILLIONS IN OIL REVENUES.

I'LL BET YOU ANYTHING YOU WANT THAT IN FUTURE YEARS, CAMBODIA WILL STILL LOOK THE SAME AFTER RECEIVING BILLIONS IN REVENUES AS MOST OF IT WILL GO INTO THE POCKETS OF YOU KNOW WHO. THE MILITARY DICTATOR AND HIS COLLEAGUES WILL SPEND LAVISHLY ON THEMSELVES AND INVEST THE EXCESS ABROAD AND IN SWISS BANK ACCOUNTS.

IT ALWAYS COMES OUT THE SAME WAY. HUMAN GREED! THE MORE CERTAIN PEOPLE GET, THE MORE THEY WANT.

THE STREETS ALL OVER THE COUNTRY, TMZ.COM REPORTS THAT OUR MEDIA HEROINE BRITNEY SPEARS MAKES $738,000 A MONTH.

SHE SPENDS $102,000 A MONTH ON ENTERTAINMENT, GIFTS AND VACATIONS. K FED SPENDS ABOUT $5000.

BRITANY SPENDS $16,000 A MONTH ON CLOTHES. KFED ABOUT $2000. I TOLD YOU I GO TO GOODWILL AND MAYBE SPEND $50 A YEAR.

BRITANY DOES HAVE A CHARITABLE FOUNDATION AND CONTRIBUTES $500.

HELL, MY MY SPACE FRIEND ACTRESS, DANCER CARMEN ELECTRA DROPS HUNDRED DOLLAR BILLS FOR THE HOMELESS IN THE BIG APPLE.

THEY WAY I FIGURE IT BRITANY EARNS MORE IN A MONTH THAN MAYBE SANTA MONICA SANITATION CHIEF EDDIE GREENBERG WHO RECENTLY CELEBRATED 30 YEARS OF CITY SERVICE AND ALL HIS EMPLOYEES WHO PICK UP THE TRASH, LITTER AND CLEAN THE TOILETS ON THE 3RD ST. PROMENADE.

I ASK YOU WHO CONTRIBUTES MORE VALUE TO MANKIND? BRITANY WHOSE TALENT IS OF DUBIOUS VALUE AND WHOSE MUSICAL CONTRIBUTION IS ABOUT TO PETER OUT, OR THE MEN WHO KEEP THE STREETS OF SANTA MONICA CLEAN?

I'M A JAZZ MUSICIAN NOT A CASTING DIRECTOR, BUT SUPPOSE WARNERS BROS AND OSCAR PRODUCER (A BEAUTIFUL MIND) ASK ME OR YOU WHO SHOULD PORTRAY

IT'S A DAMN GOOD STORY.

HOW ABOUT ROLES FOR MY MY SPACE FRIENDS , BREANN MCGREGOR, CARMEN ELECTRA, SOPHIE INNSBUCK AND OTHERS?

HOW ABOUT ME FOR THE MUSIC? I HAVE 200 TRACKS OF MUSIC ONLINE?

SOMEONE FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO WARNER BROS.

PRESIDENT BUSH IS COMING TO SOCAL TOMORROW TO HELP US OUT. EXCUSE ME AS I COUGH FROM THE SMOKE.

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594

ACTUALLY AS FAR BACK AS 2003, BUSH FAILED TO ORDER THE U.S.FORESTRY SERVICE TO CLEAR PUBLIC LANDS OF BEETLE INFESTED DEAD TREES WHICH LIKELY ADDED FUEL TO THE LATEST FIRES.

HOWEVER NOTHING COULD HAVE STOPPED THIS FIRESTORM. JUST AS NOTHING CAN PREVENT THE DAMAGE OF EARTHQUAKES, TORNADOS, FLOODING, MUDSLIDES, HURRICANES ET AL. ALL OF WHICH MOST OF US HAVE EXPERIENCED SOMETIME IN OUR LIVES.

HAVING SURVIVED TWO TOTALED PORSCHES, LOMA PRIETA, THE OAKLAND HILLS FIRES, MALIBU 2003, AND THIS WEEK, I THINK MY LUCK IS COMING TO AN END. I'M THANKFUL I CAN TRY AND CREATE THE SOCAL FIRE BLUES TODAY.

MY FRIEND ASHLEY ON MY SPACE AND JAMWAVE A SAN DIEGO RESIDENT THANKFULLY ATTENDED THE RAIDERS GAME IN NORCAL THE PAST WEEKEND AND COULDN'T GET BACK TO SAN DIEGO.

ONE OF MY BEST FRIENDS A CIVIC LEADER, LAWYER AND RESTAURANTEUR IN SAN DIEGO UNFORTUNATELY PASSED EARLIER THIS YEAR; OTHERWISE HE WOULD BE LEADING THE CHARGE TO AID SAN DIEGANS. THIS IS BIG TIME DIASASTER.

QUOTE OF THE DAY FROM SINGAPORE'S FORMER PRIME MINISTER LEE KUAN YEW.

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594

"IN MYANMAR, THERE ARE RATHER DUMB GENERALS WHEN IT COMES TO THE ECONOMY. HOW CAN THEY SO MISMANAGE THE ECONOMY WHEN AND REACH THIS STAGE WHEN THE COUNTRY HAS SO MANY NATURAL RESOURCES?"

WELL, MR. LEE, THE ANSWER IS SIMPLE. WHEN THE COUNTRY IS RUN BY SELFISH GREEDY PEOPLE, PEOPLE WHO WANT EVERYTHING THING FOR THEMSELVES AND NOT FOR THE PEOPLE, THIS IS WHAT YOU GET.

WITH RESPECT TO OUR OWN POLITICS, DO YOU REALLY BELIEVE OBAMA AND CHENEY ARE RELATED?

MAYBE I'M RELATED TO GOVERNOR SCHWARZIE.

27 FOREIGN MINISTERS OF THE EUROPEAN UNION MEET TODAY TO DECIDE WHETHER TO IMPOSE ECONOMIC SANCTIONS ON BURMA'S MILITARY GOVERNMENT.

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594
ROLLS ROYCE WHICH REPAIRS AIR PLANE ENGINES FOR BURMA'S AIRLINES HAS ALREADY PULLED OUT.

PRO DEMOCRACY SUPPORTERS ARE CALLING ON COMPANIES LIKE CHEVRON AND DAE WOO TO PULL OUT.

LOCALLY WE CAN JOIN PRO DEMOCRACY AND HUMAN RIGHTS SUPPORTERS BY EMAILING THE MAYOR OF PASADENA. (ADDRESS IN MY SEND BOX)

CHINA WANTS TO USE THE ROSE PARADE TO ADVERTISE THE OLYMPICS. WE SHOULD OPPOSE CHINA'S EFFORT UNTIL THEY HELP BRING AN END TO THE IMPRISONMENT AND KILLING OF THE BURMESE PEOPLE. OF COURSE CHINA'S NOTORIOUS FOR HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS.

THE CHINESE RATIONALE IS THIS IS THE ONLY WAY WE CAN CONTROL A BILLION PEOPLE, KEEPING THEM WORKING IF ONLY FOR 30 CENTS A MONTH, HAVING THEM MAKE ANYTHING, EVEN IF THE PRODUCTS ARE DEFECTIVE.

I CAN UNDERSTAND THE IRON FIST APPROACH AS THROUGHOUT HISTORY, CHINA'S NEVER BEEN UNIFIED. HOWEVER UNDER THIS SYSTEM, INNOCENT PEOPLE DIE AND ARE IMPRISONED FOR LIFE WITHOUT JUST CAUSE.

THE TRIALS OF HENRY KISSINGER IS CURRENTLY BEING SHOWN ON www.linktv.com.

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594

if you watch this you will realize that KISSINGER, A NOBEL PRIZE WINNER, IS NO BETTER THAN THE MILITARY DICTATOR OF MYANMAR. KISSINGER ORDERED INDISCRIMINATE BOMBINGS OF CAMBODIA, LAOS, VIETNAM AND APPROVED THE BLOODSHED CARRIED OUT BY DICTATORS ALL OVER THE WORLD.

ON A MORE ENJOYABLE NOTE, IT'S GLORIOUS TODAY, ANOTHER DAY IN PARADISE AT PARADISE COVE.

ENJOY BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE!

THE MYANMAR MILITARY JUNTA HAS ARRESTED HTAY KYKWE AND OTHER TOP PRO DEMOCRACY LEADERS.

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594

KYWE WAS ALSO ACTIVE IN THE 1988 PRO DEMOCRACY DEMONSTRATIONS. I FEEL SORRY FOR THIS GUY. HE'LL PROBABLY GET HIS YOU KNOW WHAT CUT OFF.

MEANWHILE THE U.N. ENVOY GAMBARI IS HEADED BACK TO BURMA FOR MORE TALKS.

IT'S DOUBTFUL WHETHER THE MILITARY GOVERNMENT WILL LISTEN. THEY ORGANIZED A PRO GOVERNMENT RALLY YESTERDAY BY PAYING THE DEMONSTRATORS AND BUSING THEM IN. IN OTHER WORDS SUPPORT THE GOVERNMENT OR ELSE.

AGAIN I BELIEVE THE KEY IS CHINA. YOU HAVE TO PUT PRESSURE ON CHINA BY THREATENING TO BOYCOTT THE OLYMPICS BEFORE THEY WILL MOVE AGAINST THE MYANMAR MILITARY.

THE MILITARY IS SO STRONG IN MYANMAR, A HALF MILLION TROOPS, PLUS THE ENTIRE GOVERNMENT INFRASTRUCTURE THAT THEY WILL REMAIN IN POWER. HOWEVER THEY COULD LIGHTEN UP AND INSTITUTE SOME REFORM AND QUIT ARRESTING AND KILLING PEOPLE. THIS IS WHERE CHINA GOULD HELP.

HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND! WE'VE EXPERIENCED RAIN IN SOCAL FOR THE FIRST TIME IN DAYS.

THE MILITARY CRACKDON IN MYANMAR CONTINUES.

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594

THE TIMES OF LONDON www.onlinetimes.com (the have a reporter in Rangoon.) reports that the myananar military have raided United Nations offices in Rangoon and confiscated computers. the military is using any means, videos, photos, hard drives of computers to identify pro democracy demonstrators. once identified, even if inaccurately, those identified are arrested. how long they stay in jail or whether they are killed who knows. NO RIGHT TO COUNSEL HERE.

Also mass cremations continue. the myanmar military is copying their buddies the chinese military (after the Tiananmen massacre) and burning any bodies lying around whether they are wounded or what. Dozens if not hundreds of bodies are not identified, the remains are not returned to relatives, buddhist rights are not given, just cremated.

SUPPOSE YOU WERE A MEMBER OF THE MILITARY. it's common sense. you have to clean up the mess you've made. you can't have bodies lying around. just pick them up and burn them.

Marietta College Professor Dr. Xiaoxiong Yi, an expert on Asian and American foreign policy writes that after WW II, Burma was one of the most promising nations in southeast Asia. It was the world's leading rice exporter. U Thant, a Burmese served as United Nations Secretary General for 11 years.

Since the military takeover in 1988, the military has raped Burma every which way. Burmese citizens are now among the poorest in the world. that means people are lucky to get a meal a day. meanwhile the military has built themselves a luxurious capital with palatial mansions. (see earlier postings) and they've invested their illegal loot in Singapore, Australia and have probably opened a few Swiss bank accounts.

THE TIME IS RIPE FOR REVOLUTION WITH A LITTLE ASSISTANCE FROM
OLYMPICS CRAZED CHINA. LET'S CONTINUE THE DEMONSTRATIONS AT CHINESE EMBASSIES AND CONSULATES THROUGHOUT THE WORLD.

AFTER THE OLYMPICS, YOU WON'T HAVE THIS PRESSURE POINT.

THE BILL GATES OF BURMA "TAY ZA" HAS REPORTEDLY BEEN SPOTTED IN SINGAPORE EN ROUTE TO SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA.

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594
ZA REPORTEDLY HAS CHANGED HIS PASSPORT NAME TO "NAY KA". WHEN YOU PRACTICALLY RUN THE GOVERNMENT, YOU CAN CHANGE THE NAME ON YOUR PASSPORT ANYTIME YOU WANT, MAYBE TO "GOERING". ZA IS APPARENTLY ACCOMPANIED BY DICTATOR THAN SHWE'S FAT DAUGHTERS AND FAT SONS. DON'T KNOW WHERE HIS FAT WIFE IS, BUT AGAIN WHEN PEOPLE GET RICH, THEY OFTEN GET FAT, AND YOU KNOW WHY.

WHEN I HAVE MORE MONEY, I EAT MORE AND RICHER FOODS. IT'S HUMAN NATURE.

ALL THESE PEOPLE WHO ECONOMICALLY RAPED BURMA HAVE THEIR INVESTMENTS ABROAD, SINGAPORE, THAILAND, SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA.

I HAVEN'T SEEN ANYTHING ABOUT SWISS BANK ACCOUNTS, BUT YOU CAN'T FIND THIS STUFF OUT ANYWAY; THAT'S WHY THE CROOKS OF THE WORLD HAVE THEIR MONEY IN SWISS BANK ACCOUNTS.

CHINA EXPERTS SAY AN OLYMPIC BOYCOTT WON'T WORK BECAUSE WORLD LEADERS LOVE TRADING WITH CHINA. PRACTICALLY EVERYTHING WE BUY FROM FOOD TO HARD GOODS HAS SOME ELEMENT FROM CHINA IN IT.

EVERYONE WHO IS PROFITING FROM THIS CHINA TRADE LIKE MATTEL DON'T WANT TO ROCK THE BOAT. THAT'S WHY WHEN THE TOYS WITH LEAD PAINT BEGAN AFFECTING OUR KIDS, MATTEL TOOK THE BLAME RATHER THAN BLAMING CHINA.

HOWEVER IF BLOODSHED IN BURMA CONTINUES, THE PEOPLES OF THE WORLD WILL DEMAND A HALT, AND CHINA IS THE PRESSURE POINT.

WE IN SANTA MONICA HONOR JOURNALIST, MUSICIAN DANIEL PEARL SUNDAY OCTOBER 7TH.

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594
PEARL WHO PERFORMED MUSIC EVERY WHERE HE LIVED BELIEVED THAT MUSIC COULD BRING UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN CULTURES AND PEOPLE.

UNFORTUNATELY HE MET MUSLIM EXTREMISTS IN PAKISTAN WHO DIDN'T BELIEVE AS HE DID.

WE CELEBRATE DANNY'S LOVE FOR MUSIC WORLDWIDE DURING OCTOBER DANNY'S BIRTHDAY MONTH. MUSICIANS ALL OVER THE WORLD ARE PERFORMING IN DANNY'S HONOR AND IN HIS JOYFUL SPIRIT FOR HUMANITY.

IF YOU SAW "A MIGHTY HEART" STARRING ANGELINA JOLIE WHO PORTRAYED DANNY'S WIFE MARIANE PEARL, YOU WOULD HAVE FELT HIS JOY FOR LIFE AND FOR PEOPLE FROM MANY DIFFERENT COUNTRIES.

A FEW MEMBERS OF THE HONORARY COMMITTEE FOR DANIEL PEARL WORLD MUSIC DAYS IN OCTOBER ARE HERBIE HANCOCK, ITZAK PEARLMAN, YO YO MA, BARBARA STREISAND AND OTHERS.

9 YEAR OLD BLUES DRUMMER MATTHEW ZONE FROM CALABASAS WILL BE PERFORMING WITH ME AT 10 A.M. 3RD ST. PROMENADE.

COME CELEBRATE WITH US!

WATCH TV NEWS TODAY FOR DEMONSTRATIONS ALL OVER THE WORLD AGAINST OPPRESSION IN BURMA.

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594
THIS ONE HAS BEGUN IN MALAYSIA AND DEMONSTRATIONS WILL SPREAD THROUGHOUT THE WORLD TODAY.

THE MILITARY JUNTA AND DICTATOR THAN SHWE WILL PROBABLY GIVE THE WORLD THE FINGER.

HOWEVER THE DEMONSTRATIONS SHOULD BE AT THE CHINESE EMBASSIES AND CONSULATES. THIS IS THE VITAL PRESSURE POINT AS CHINA COULD MOVE THE MILITARY JUNTA AND SHWE.

IF YOU CAN EMBARRASS THE CHINESE ENOUGH, IF YOU CAN THREATEN A WORLD WIDE BOYCOTT OF NEXT YEAR'S OLYMPICS, CHINA WILL HELP END THE BLOODSHED IN MYANMAR AND FREE THE THOUSANDS OF MONKS AND PRO DEMOCRACY DEMONSTRATORS WHO WILL OTHERWISE ROT IN JAIL.

CHINA AGAIN HAS FOOLED O.J., FRED GOLDMAN AND ME WITH THEIR FAKE ROLEXS. EVERYONE THOUGHT O.J. WAS WEARING A $22,000 ROLEX DURING THE ARMED ROBBERY IN VEGAS. FRED GOLDMAN THOUGHT SO AND HAD HIS LAWYERS SEIZE IT. NOW FRED HAS TO RETURN IT BECAUSE JEWELRY UNDER $6,000 IS EXEMPT FROM THE JUDGEMENT GOLDMAN GOT AGAINST O.J.

I KNEW MY ROLEX WAS FAKE BECAUSE MY BRO PAID $25 IN SHANGHAI AND MAILED IT TO ME. IT ONLY LASTED 2 WEEKS.

I HAD A FAKE MOVADO WHICH I BOUGHT ON MARKET ST. IN SAN FRANCISCO. I WORE IT FOR 15 YEARS, AND IT DIED IN SANTA MONICA. I THINK THIS ONE WAS FROM HONK KONG WHERE THE FAKES ARE MADE BETTER.

MYANMAR'S BILL GATES IS TYCOON TAY ZA.

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594
ZA WHO'S TIGHT WITH DICTATOR THAN SHWE IS INVOLVED IN NEARLY EVERY DAMN BUSINESS IN BURMA. HE FOUNDED BURMA'S AIRLINE.

EVEN THOUGH HE'S MARRIED HE'S INVOLVED WITH ONE OF SHWE'S FIVE DAUGHTERS. HE DRIVES ROLLS ROYCES AND LAMBORGHINIS AND GAVE ONE OF HIS CARS TO SHWE'S GRANDSON WHO STUDIES IN SINGAPORE.

ZA AND SHWE'S WIFE KYAING KYAING (A MADAME MAO TYPE WHO LIKES PEOPLE TO ADDRESS HER AS QUEEN EVEN THOUGH SHE LOOKS LIKE A PIG (FAR RIGHT IN WEDDING PHOTO)) AND FAMILY HAVE REPORTEDLY BEEN SIGHTED CHECKING INTO A LUXURY HOTEL IN DUBAI. IF I WERE STILL NETWORK ASSIGNMENT EDITOR FOR NBC NEWS, I WOULD SEND A CORRESPONDENT OVER THERE TO CHECK IT OUT. (DUBAI PAYS TIGER A MILLION DOLLAR APPEARANCE FEE EVERY YEAR, AND TIGER IS DESIGNING A GOLF COURSE FOR THEM.) IT SO HAPPENS ZA LOVES TO GOLF; SO DUBAI MAYBE A PERFECT PLACE FOR EXILE. HE HAS OFFICES IN SINGAPORE AND ELSEWHERE. HE HAS ARRANGED FOR SHWE'S INVESTMENTS IN SINGAPORE AS WELL AS THOSE OF THE MYANMAR MILITARY ELITE. SO YOU DON'T HEAR CLAMORS TO END THE BLOODSHED FROM SINGAPORE.

ZA BUYS HIS JETS AND MIG FIGHTERS FOR BURMA FROM RUSSIA. SO YOU DON'T HEAR RUSSIA CLAMORING FOR AN END TO BLOODSHED.

INDIA TRADES WITH BURMA SO THEY ARE OPENLY TIGHT LIPPED, BUT BEHIND THE SCENES THEY DON'T LIKE WHAT'S GOING ON.

CHINA IS PLAYING BOTH SIDES AS THEY FEAR DISRUPTIONS DURING NEXT YEAR'S OLYMPICS AND EVEN A POSSIBLE BOYCOTT. SO CHINA MAINTAINS RELATIONS WITH EXILED PRO DEMOCRACY TYPES AND SUU KYI.

CHINA STILL TRYING TO LIVE DOWN THE TIANANMAN MASSACRE HAS A HIDEOUS HUMAN RIGHTS RECORD INCLUDING SUPPRESSION IN TIBET.

SO THIS IS REALLY AN OPPORTUNE TIME TO PRESSURE CHINA TO EXERT PRESSURE ON MYANMAR. WE'LL NEVER GET ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY LIKE THIS.

IF WE WERE TO THREATEN TO LEAD AN OLYMPIC BOYCOTT TO DISGRACE CHINA, IT MIGHT MAKE THEM MOVE TOWARD A MORE RIGHTEOUS PATH. OF COURSE THEY COULD DUMP OUR BONDS DESTROYING OUR ECONOMY, BUT SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO DO WHAT IS RIGHT.

I DON'T HEAR A PEEP OUT OF OUR LEADERS. THEY DON'T HAVE ANY BALLS, ESPECIALLY HILLARY.

I CANNOT SUPPORT HILLARY BECAUSE SHE AND BILL WILL NEVER EXPLAIN HOW AND WHY THEY GOT ALL THAT MONEY FROM CHINA FOR THEIR CAMPAIGNS AND THE CLINTON LIBARY, WHY BILL RELAXED MISSILE TECHNOLOGY RESTRICTIONS; SO CHINA NOW AS THE EXPERTISE TO SHOOT OUR MISSILES OUT OF THE AIR.

TODAY IS INTERNATIONAL BLOGGERS FOR FREE BURMA DAY. THERE WILL BE NO POSTING OF INFO AND PICS BY OVER 2000 BLOGGERS WORLDWIDE TO SHOW SOLIDARITY .

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594
EVEN THOUGH I WANT TO SHOW YOU SOME MORE SHOCKING AND HIDEOUS BLOODSHED LIKE MILITARY TRUCKS RUNNING OVER INNOCENT CITIZENS AND MONKS, YOU WON'T SEE THEM FROM ME TODAY. (AFTER WATCHING THE HOLOCAUST ON THE "WAR" BY KEN BURNS, MYANMAR MURDERS IS DEFINITELY MOVING IN THAT DIRECTION.)

YOU CAN JOIN THE FREE BURMA MOVEMENT JUST GOOGLE "FREE BURMA". YOU DON'T HAVE TO BLOG.

I HAVE PURCHASED HERBIE HANCOCK AND WAYNE SHORTER'S RECORDING OF AUNG SAN SAN SUU KYI, NOBEL PRIZE WINNER UNDER HOUSE ARREST FOR A DOZEN YEARS. SHE IS NOT IN GOOD HEALTH, BUT IS THE SYMBOL OF RESISTANCE. SHE IS REALLY TRULY THE ELECTED PRIME MINISTER OF BURMA, BUT THE MILITARY JUNTA NULLIFIED THE ELECTION AND CRAPPED ON THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE.

(IT'S WORSE THAN THE BUSHEES SAYING EVEN THOUGH GORE WAS ELECTED BY THE PEOPLE, WE'LL TAKE OFFICE. WE'VE ALLOWED BUSH, ROVE, CHENEY, RUMSFELD AND COMPANY TO WASTE OUR RESOURCES IN EVERY WHICH WAY AND DUMP US INTO THE TOILET WITH NO MORAL CAPITAL INTERNATIONALLY.)

I WILL STUDY THE HERBIE-WAYNE COMPOSITION AND PERFORM IT LIKE THEY DID OR IMPROVISE ON IT. THE LATTER IS LIKELY SINCE I DON'T HAVE HERBIE AS A PARTNER. IF I CAN PULL IT OFF, I WILL POST IT.

UNFORTUNATELY I WILL HAVE TO RENAME A TUNE I COMPOSED 2 MONTHS AFTER THE TIANANMEN MASSACRE. "THE TIANAMEN DREAM LIKE LOVE UNFULFILLED"

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594

IT WILL NOW BE CALLED "THE MYANMAR DREAM LIKE LOVE UNFULFILLED".

IT GOES LIKE THIS. YOU CAN LISTEN AT www.jamwave.com/wenmew6

it's also on the GREEN PARTY LOS ANGELES CD.

"A BEAUTIFUL DREAM OF MANY SOULS

OF THOUGHTS FOREVER BOLD

A TIME OF WAIT AND SEE

ANOTHER DAY

THERE WILL BE A TIME

WHEN HOPES RING TRUE

A JOY TO SHARE WITH YOU

TO CELEBRATE

WHEN THAT DAY ARRIVES

WE'LL JUMP WITH JOY

A TIME TO HUG AND CRY

NO TEARS TO FURTHER HIDE

FOREVER FREE

FREEDOM FOR US ALL

EVIL MEN MUST FALL

WE'LL BE STANDING TALL

MAYBE MY NEW MUSICIAN FRIENDS IN SOCAL MIGHT WANT TO HELP ME RE RECORD IT.

THIS ORIGINAL RECORDING WITH ADAM LEVINE (FORMER HEAD OF THE DICK GROVE SCHOOL OF GUITAR) ON GUITAR AND ME WAS IN 1999, AND WE DID IT IN HIS BEDROOM WITH OVERDUBBING.

I DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH MONEY TO HIRE A VOCALIST; SO I DID THE NARRATION MYSELF.

PERHAPS SOME GREAT MUSICIANS AND VOCALISTS ON MY EMAILING LIST MIGHT WANT TO HELP ME RERECORD THIS.

ANYWAY IT'S LOOKS AS IT'S USEFULNESS WILL LAST LONG AFTER I'M DEAD AS ONE TYRANT WILL REPLACE ANOTHER TYRANT.

SINCE IT'S SO DIFFICULT TO GET NEW FRESH NEWS FROM BURMA, I FIND MY WRITINGS BEING USED BY OTHER BLOGGERS. WE'RE ALL TRYING THE SHARE INFORMATION AS THE GOVERNMENT CONTINUES ITS CRACKDOWN.

I WRITE WHAT I LEARN FROM OTHER PEOPLE. FEW PEOPLE HAVE A DIRECT LINE INTO THE WAR ZONE.

HERE IS ONE REASON WHY MYANMAR MILITARY CRACK HEADS WITH BILLY CLUBS AND MURDER MONKS AND PRO DEMOCRACY PROTESTORS.

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594
THEY WANT TO MOVE UP THE RANKS AND LIVE IN SPLENDOR IN THEIR NEW CAPITOL OF NAYPYIDAW ABOUT 200 MILES NORTH OF RANGOON, WHERE MONKS AND DEMONSTRATORS ARE BEING KILLED.

THROUGHOUT HISTORY RUTHLESS RULERS HAVE PROTECTED THEMSELVES WITH MOATS, WALLED CITIES AND THE LIKE.

HERE IN BURMA, THE MILITARY JUNTA CREATED A WALLED CAPITOL WITH PALATIAL MANSIONS, HUGE HOMES, GOOD GOVERNMENT HOUSING AND EIGHT LANE HIGHWAYS.

THESE PHOTOS WERE TAKEN BY AN INDIA JOURNALIST DRIVING THROUGH AT HIGH SPEED, AND AERIAL SHOTS AFTER TAKE OFF.

CAMERAS, CELL PHONES, COMPUTERS, SHORT WAVE RADIOS ARE ROUTINELY CONFISCATED.

MILITARY ARE CURRENTLY RAIDING HOMES LOOKING FOR PRO DEMOCRACY TYPES AND EITHER PUTTING THEM IN JAIL OR KILLING THEM. THE SAME FOR THE MONKS.

THERE ARE EMPTY MONASTERIES WHERE THE MONKS HAVE DISAPPEARED.

THERE ARE 400,000 MONKS IN BURMA. A LITTLE GENOCIDE GOING ON
I THINK.

THE U.N. ENVOY WHO SPOKE WITH DICTATOR THAN SHWE TUESDAY WILL REPORT TO THE U.N. SECRETARY GENERAL FRIDAY. MAYBE WE'LL KNOW MORE, AND MAYBE WE WON'T.

THE MONEY TO BUILD SUCH A FANCY CAPITOL COMES FROM FOREIGN INVESTORS LIKE IN THE OIL AND GAS INDUSTRY WHO MUST GIVE A SHARE OF ITS PROFITS TO THE MILITARY JUNTA.

THERE MUST BE MONEY IN SWISS BANK ACCOUNTS. WHERE ELSE CAN PUT THE LOOT? YOU CAN STASH GOLD.

THE PROBLEM WITH LIVING IN ISOLATION, WE'LL MAYBE THEY HAVE SATELLITE TV FOR THE RULERS, JUST LIKE KIM JONG IL NORTH KOREA'S RULER SUBSCRIBES TO PLAYBOY CHANNEL, PRETTY DAMN BORING EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE RICH. DEFINITELY NO JAZZ BECAUSE JAZZ IS THE MUSIC OF REVOLUTION.

U.N. ENVOY GAMBARI WILL ASK GEN. THAN SHWE TO STOP MURDERING MONKS AND CITIZENS OF MYANMAR TODAY.

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594

IT'S DOUBTFUL WHETHER HE'LL BE SUCCESSFUL. THIS EVIL MAN'S BEEN KILLING THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE SINCE HE TOOK POWER IN THE EARLY 90s.

HIS SOLDIERS HAVE MURDERED THOUSANDS AND RAPED THOUSANDS OF WOMEN.

BURMA IS ONE OF THE POOREST COUNTRIES IN THE WORLD.

HOWEVER IT HAS OIL AND GAS RESERVES. FOREIGN INVESTORS ARE FROM AUSTRALIA, CHINA, FRANCE, INDIA, JAPAN, MALAYSIA, SINGAPORE, THAILAND AND RUSSIA. I'M REALLY SURPRISED THE BUSHEES AREN'T THERE. OTHERWISE WE WOULD HAVE BEEN IN THERE BY NOW.

ALL THIS MONEY GOES TO THAN SHWE AND THE MILITARY JUNTA.

THIS WEDDING FOR HIS DAUGHTER JULY 2006 COST AN ESTIMATED 50 MILLION DOLLARS (3 TIMES THE STATE HEALTH BUDGET) WITH STRINGS OF DIAMONDS AND CASES OF CHAMPAGNE. MILLIONS OF DOLLARS WORTH OF WEDDING PRESENTS FOR THE NEW COUPLE. FEW PEOPLE FOUND OUT ABOUT IT BECAUSE THERE IS ABSOLUTE PRESS CENSORSHIP IN BURMA. AT LEAST 50 FOREIGN PRESS ORGANIZATIONS HAVE BEEN BARRED FROM THE COUNTRY, AND YOU KNOW FOREIGN PRESS PHOTOGRAPHERS ARE SHOT LIKE THE ONE FROM JAPAN RECENTLY.

THE ONLY WAY TO GET RID OF A GUY LIKE THIS IS TO KILL HIM OR OFFER HIM A COMFORTABLE ASYLUM IN SOME COUNTRY. IT'S WORTH IT JUST TO PREVENT HIM FROM MURDERING MORE PEOPLE AND MONKS.

OR YOU CAN CUT OFF HIS FOREIGN REVENUE. BUT IT'S UP TO COUNTRIES LIKE CHINA AND INDIA TO DO THIS.

YOU WONDER HOW EVIL TYRANTS ARE CREATED?

THIS GUY BEGAN WORKING LIFE AS A MAILMAN. AT 20 YEARS OLD HE ENLISTED IN THE ARMY.

IN A POOR COUNTRY, YOU HAVE FEW CHOICES. BECOME AN IDEALISTIC MONK AND TAKE A VOW OF POVERTY LIKE HALF A MILLION OF ITS CITIZENS HAVE DONE, OR GET FOOD AND SHELTER BY JOINING THE ARMY. IF YOU JOIN THE ARMY, THE AMBITIOUS AND GREEDY FIND WAYS OF GETTING AHEAD. SO BY THE TIME THAN SHWE WAS 50 HE COMMANDED FORCES IN SOUTHWEST BURMA. HE MANGED TO WEASEL HIS WAY TO THE TOP RANKS AND BECOME ABSOLUTE DICTATOR. LIKE ALL DICTATORS HE KNOWS HOW TO PUT THE FEAR IN THE COMPETITION OR ELSE ASSASINATE ANY COMPETITIORS AND SURROUND HIMSELF WITH ENOUGH SYCOPHANTS TO PROTECT HIM.

ALSO ALL COMMUNICATIONS SOURCES MUST BE REGISTERED, CELL PHONES, COMPUTERS ETC. OR YOU GO TO JAIL.

SO TODAY'S U.N. ENVOY HAS TO DEAL WITH GUY WHO PATTERNS HIMSELF A STALIN AND A MINATURE HITLER.

YOU CAN BET THERE WILL BE MORE BLOODSHED!

Monday, October 01, 2007

DURING THE DEMONSTRATIONS THERE WERE CRIES FOR HELP TO THE U.S. "WHY DON'T THE AMERICANS HELP US?"

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594

AGAIN WHEN PEOPLE WANT DEMOCRACY THEY WANT HELP FROM US.

MAYBE WE SHOULD HELP THEM. WE HAPPENED TO BE IN THE PHILIPPHINES THAT THE TIME MARCOS WAS TOPPLED. NOT MUCH BLOODSHED THERE.

WE COULD PULL A DIVISION OUT OF IRAQ AND SEND IT OVER THERE. THE IRAQUIES DON'T WANT US.

HERE IS A COUNTRY WHO WANTS OUR HELP AND COULD USE IT.

APPARENTLY CHINA AND INDIA AREN'T GOING TO DO MUCH.

WHEN I LIVED IN THE BAY AREA, I KNEW A CHINESE CHEMIST FROM BURMA. HE HAD DEVELOPED TASTY SOY MILK BEFORE EVERYONE, BUT HE COULDN'T GET FINANCIAL BACKING.

NOW MANY PEOPLE DRINK SOY INCLUDING ME.

IT LOOKS AS IF WE'RE GOING TO HAVE TO RELY ON BLOGGERS AND INTERNET USERS WHO CAN GET INFO OUT OF MYANMAR.

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594
THIS IS NOT PLEASANT TO LOOK AT, BUT THESE ARE MONKS BEING MURDERED BY THE MILITARY.

THE MILITARY INVADED ONE MONASTERY AND BANGED HEADS OF MONKS AGAINST THE WALL AND HAULED THE BODIES AWAY. (LIKE THE BEGINNINGS OF A HOLOCAUST)

500 MONKS ARE IN A DETENTION CENTER ON A HUNGER STRIKE. MONKS IN MYANMAR GENERALLY DEPEND ON FOOD FROM THE PUBLIC, BUT THEY ARE REFUSING TO EAT.

THERE ARE A HALF MILLION MONKS AND A HALF MILLION SOLDIERS. BUT THE MILITARY HAS ALL THE WEAPONS.

REPORTERS AND FOREIGNERS CAN'T GET INTO THE COUNTRY. THE GOVERNMENT HOPES NO ONE FINDS OUT ABOUT THE BLOODSHED.

IF ANY OF YOU FIND OUT MORE KEY INFORMATION EMAIL ME AT WENMEW@VERIZON.NET

HAVE A GOOD WEEK!

Sunday, September 30, 2007

MOST PEOPLE KNOW NOW THAT A JAPANESE NEWS PHOTOGRAPER WAS MURDERED BY THE MYANMAR MILITARY.

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594

THE MILITARY JUNTA HAS CRACKED DOWN ON INTERNET USE, SHUTTING DOWN INTERNET CAFES AND THE LIKE; SO IT'S UNCERTAIN WHETHER WE WILL GET MUCH INFORMATION ON THE MASSACARE.

THOUSANDS WERE KILLED IN THE STUDENT DEMOCRACY PROTEST IN 1988. THIS TIME THE MONKS ARE LEADING THE PROTEST. THERE ARE HALF A MILLION MONKS IN MYANMAR AND A HALF A MILLION SOLDIERS.

THE SOLDIERS HAVE THE WEAPONS, THE MONKS MORAL AUTHORITY.

WHO DO YOU THINK WILL PREVAIL?

THE MILITARY JUNTA DOESN'T GIVE A DAMN ABOUT WORLD OPINION. THEY'VE BEEN IN POWER FOR 45 YEARS. THEY WANT TO KEEP WHAT THEY HAVE.

CHINA AND INDIA HOWEVER COULD PUT THE SQUEEZE ON THEM IF THEY WANT.

TO PUT PRESSURE ON CHINA COUNTRIES SHOULD BEGIN BOYCOTTING NEXT YEAR'S OLYMPICS. LET THEM COMPETE AMONG THEMSELVES IN THEIR POLLUTED CITIES. LET THEM KNOW WE DON'T WANT DEFECTIVE AND POISONOUS PRODUCTS.

THEN THEY'LL PROBABLY DUMP THE U.S. DEBT THEY HOLD THROWING OUR ECONOMY INTO A TAILSPIN.

THERE ARE NO EASY SOLUTIONS JUST LIKE IRAQ!!! MEANWHILE BLOOD FLOWS.

LISTEN TO MY NEW VERSION OF "BLOODCOUNT" at www.jamwave.com click charts then JAZZ

MANY MILITARY MURDERS IN BURMA IF NOT A BLOODBATH.

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594
THERE IS A NEWS BLACKOUT OF COURSE, AND INTERNET BLOGGERS HAVE BEEN CUT OFF. HOWEVER IF YOU WANT TO FIND OUT WHAT'S GOING ON YOU HAVE TO KEEP SURFING THE INTERNET. EVENTUALLY WE'LL GET NEWS. ANY TV NEWS REPORTS COULD BE CENSORED.

THIS IS NOT LIKE THE TIANANAM MASSACRE WHICH WAS TELEVISED LIVE IN LIVING COLOR. THE MILITARY JUNTA IN BURMA IS REALLY CRACKING DOWN ON PRO DEMOCRACY PROTESTORS. THEY MEAN BUSINESS JUST LIKE MILITARY GOVERNMENTS THE WORLD OVER.

YOU HAVE TO PAY WITH YOUR LIFE FOR FREEDOM! MANY LIVES HAVE BEEN LOST SO WE CAN ENJOY OUR SUNDAYS AND PLAY MUSIC.

HOPE YOU'RE ENJOYING "WAR" ON PBS. HERE'S SOME RECENT PHOTOS OF HANK JONES, ROBERTA GAMBARINI.

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594

ROBERTA GENERATES AT LEAST 300 PHOTOS A YEAR ON FLICKR.COM, SO I HAVE TO CHERRY PICK THE PHOTOS. MY COMPUTER IS ALREADY LOADED WITH GAMBARINI PHOTOS.

THESE ARE FROM RECENT FESTS, DUKE ELLINGTON JAZZ FESTIVAL, TANGLEWOOD, NORTHSEA, ROBERTA USED GERALD CLAYTON AT JAZZ ALLEY IN SEATTLE.

SHE'LL BE AT THE PIERRE HOTEL OCT.1ST WITH ALL THE OTHER JAZZ STARS, FRIENDS OF CHARLIE PARKER, TO RAISE MONEY TO GET JAZZERS LIKE BIRD OFF OF DRUGS.

CALIFORNIA AT WAR IS A TERRIFIC DOCUMENTARY BEING SHOWN ON PUBLIC BROADCASTING IN CONJUNCTION WITH KEN BURNS'S "WAR".

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594
AS YOU CAN SEE IT'S AVAILABLE ON DVD.

THE THING THAT STRUCK ME WHEN WATCHING IT WAS THE WAR'S IMPACT ON JAZZ. (www.mewbird.blogspot.com JAZZ GOES TO WAR)

THE DOC MENTIONED THAT THERE WAS A DANCE IN SAN FRANCISCO IN WHICH THERE WERE AT LEAST TEN THOUSAND PEOPLE. NO MENTION WAS MADE OF THE BANDS ETC. BUT THERE MUST HAVE BEEN SOME BIG BANDS PLAYING THESE DANCES. NO STUPID D.J. IN THOSE DAYS.

ALSO IN TALKING WITH SOCAL NATIVES, I LEARNED THAT DOZENS OF BIG BANDS USED TO PLAY WHERE I PLAY TODAY NEAR THE SANTA MONICA PIER.

ALSO THE DOCUMENTARY EMPHASIZED THE ROUND THE CLOCK CONTINUAL ENTERTAINMENT FACILITIES, CLUBS, THEATRES ETC.DURING THE WAR SIMILAR TO NEW YORK CITY.

IN MY OPINION THE ROUND THE CLOCK JAM SESSIONS HAD A LOT TO DO WITH SHAPING AND DEVELOPING BEBOP, STILL THE MOST SOPHISTICATED FORM OF SPONTANEOUS MUSIC TODAY.

YOU CANNOT LEARN HOW TO PLAY THIS MUSIC BY JUST PLAYING A FEW HOURS HERE AND THERE. AND TODAY THERE ARE NO JAM SESSIONS LIKE THERE WAS DURING THE WAR. SO HOW ARE MUSICIANS GOING TO LEARN HOW TOO PLAY THIS MUSIC?

IN SCHOOLS I GUESS???

besides exporting defective toys, tires and poisonous pet food, china is also flooding the market with steroids.

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594

ANY HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETE CAN GO ONLINE AND BUY STEROIDS FROM CHINA. EVEN IF THEY DON'T SEEM IMMEDIATELY POISONOUS, IN THE LONG RUN THE INGESTOR WILL SUFFER.

WE IN TURN FLOOD CHINA AND THE WORLD WITH CANCER CAUSING CIGARETTES.

EVEN JAZZ WAS USED IN THE 80s TO PROMOTE CIGARETTE SMOKING THROUGHOUT THE WORLD AS THE PHILLIP MORRIS SUPERBAND WAS COMPOSED OF SOME OF OUR BEST MUSICIANS, AND SOME OF THEM PROBABLY SMOKED PHILLIP MORRIS OR SOME OTHER CANCER CAUSING AMERICAN CIG.

IN SOCAL, IF YOU LIVE NEAR THE FREEWAY, DON'T TAKE DEEP BREATHS. BUT YOU CAN'T HELP IT; SO CHANCES ARE YOU WILL PERISH BEFORE THOSE OF US WHO LIVE NEAR THE OCEAN.

IF YOU ATTEND OR WORK NEAR BEVERLY HILLS HIGH SCHOOL, DON'T TAKE DEEP BREATHS BECAUSE OF TOXIC FUMES FROM THE OIL DRILLING. THE CITY AND BEVERLY HILLS BOARD OF EDUCATION LIKE THE MONEY THE OIL DRILLING BRINGS IN. MEANWHILE FORMER BEVERLY HILLS STUDENTS HAVE HIGH CANCER RATES.

YOU CAN'T ESCAPE THE POISON AROUND US!

FORBES 400 WEATHIEST AMERICANS LIST IS OUT TODAY AND AMONG THE MIDDLE OF THE PACK LED BY BILL GATES IS DR. AMAR BOSE.

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594
I ONCE RECEIVED A PERSONAL LETTER FROM DR. BOSE AS I SENT HIM A PIC OF ME USING HIS BOSE AS I REALLY ADVERTISE FOR HIM AS HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE SEE ME EVERYDAY PLAYING WITH HIS PRODUCT. BESIDES I HAVE 3 OF THEM ALONG WITH BOSE COMPUTER SPEAKERS; SO I THINK I HELPED HIM MAKE HIS BILLIONS. UNLIKE HERBIE HANCOCK, I DON'T GET ROYALTIES AND FREE BOSE. I BUY MINE ON EBAY. DR. BOSE IS OF INDIAN ANCESTRY.

THE ONLY OTHER BILLIONAIRES ON THE LIST I SAW POSSIBLY RELATED TO JAZZ IS DAVID GEFFEN AND MAYBE HOWARD SCHULTZ OF STARBUCKS WHO MADE SOME MONEY FOR KENNY G.

THERE'S A WHOLE BUNCH OF WALTONS. WALMART SELLS JAZZ CDS.

THERE'S A WHOLE BUNCH OF PRITZERS. JAZZ PLAYERS PLAY AT THE HYATT.

THEN THERE'S OPRAH WHO ONLY ONCE IN A WHILE WILL HAVE A JAZZ ARTIST ON HER SHOW LIKE CHRIS BOTTI. I DON'T REMEMBER SEEING ANY STRAIGHT AHEAD JAZZ ARTISTS ON HER SHOW, NOT EVEN ROBERTA GAMBARINI WHO'S THE REAL STORY, AND NO ONE'S PICKING UP ON HER.

I GIVE UP. NO ONE'S LISTENING TO ME.

JAZZ GOES TO WAR IS PART OF KEN BURNS'S 7 PART DOCUMENTARY ON WW II WHICH BEGINS SUNDAY NIGHT.

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594

JAZZ UNDERWENT A PROFOUND CHANGE (BEBOP) DURING THE WAR YEARS AND AFFECTED EVERYONE, THOSE WHO REMAINED AT HOME, THE TROOPS, AND THE ENEMY.

AT HOME, MEMBERS OF THE BIG BANDS HAD TO LEAVE TO SERVE. WHAT WAS LEFT OF MANY BIG BANDS WERE INEXPERIENCED MUSICIANS. MANY BLACK JAZZ MUSICIANS SERVED, BUT IN THOSE DAYS OF SEGREGATION, SEGREGATED BASES AND UNITS WERE PAR FOR THE COURSE, BUT THEY PRODUCED INCREDIBLE MUSIC, OFTEN AT THE GREAT LAKES NAVAL BASE WHERE SOME OF THE GREATEST MUSICIANS WERE BASED.

HITLER AND THE GERMAN LEADERS HATED JAZZ, THE MUSIC OF FREEDOM AND REVOLUTION, AND WHEN THEY COULDN'T SUPPRESS IT EVEN AMONG THE GERMAN PEOPLE, THEY TRIED TO CREATE THEIR OWN SWING BANDS. THE MUSIC WAS SO POWERFUL THAT IT CONSIDERABLY AFFECTED GERMAN AND JAPANESE POST WAR SOCIETY. SO TODAY THEY PRODUCE SOME OF THE GREATEST MUSICIANS TODAY.

WHETHER THIS COULD HAPPEN IN CHINA? I DON'T KNOW THE GOVERNMENT ALLOWS JAZZ, BUT WILL IT HAVE A REVOLUTIONARY EFFECT IN WHICH FREEDOM WILL PREVAIL AND REPRESSIVE LEADERSHIP IS OVERTHROWN. THEY FAILED AT TIANANMEN SQUARE.

JAPANESE AMERICANS WERE INTERNED DURING THE WAR, BUT FOUND SOLACE IN JAZZ, SWING MUSIC.

60 MILLION LIVES WERE LOST IN THE WAR, AND ANOTHER THOUSAND VETS PER DAY ARE DYING TODAY. FAMOUS MUSICIANS LIKE GLENN MILLER FLEW TO NORTHERN EUROPE. HIS PLANE DISAPPEARED NEVER TO BE FOUND.

WITH SO MANY MALE MUSICIANS IN THE WAR, FEMALE BANDS BEGAN POPPING UP. REMEMBER THIS WAS FOR BEFORE TV AND STEREO AMPLIFICATION, SO BIG DANCE HALLS WERE ONE OF THE BEST FORMS OF ENTERTAINMENT. AND YOU NEED MUSICIANS TO FORM BANDS.

TODAY SADLY NO NEED FOR SO MANY LIVE MUSICIANS. JUST HIRE A DJ.

LONG AFTER THE WAR, DIZZY GILLESPIE WAS ASKED, "IF JAZZ WAS A SERIOUS FORM OF MUSIC." DIZ, REPLIED, "MEN DIED FOR THIS MUSIC, YOU CAN'T GET ANYMORE SERIOUS THAN THAT".

JUDGE LANCE ITO WHO PRESIDED OVER THE FIRST O.J. TRIAL NOW FINDS O.J. GUILTY.

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594

THIS GREAT JURIST USED TO DECORATE HIS OFFICE WITH PLAYBOY CENTERFOLDS, IS MARRIED TO L.A.'S TOP COP, A SUBJECT OF A TV SERIES.

IT'S O.K. FOR THE JUDGE TO COMMENT ON A VEGAS CASE.

los angeles has the WORST TRAFFIC CONGESTION IN THE COUNTRY.

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594
SO WHEN YOU VISIT SOCAL, COME TO SANTA MONICA, COME THE BEACH, THE PIER AND THE 3RD ST. PROMENADE.

YESTERDAY I PLAYED WITH AN INCREDIBLE FEMALE GUITARIST FROM FRANCE WHO PLAYED LIKE JOE PASS, MARTIN TAYLOR ET AL.

LOTS OF FUN. BUT NOTHING RECORDED. SHE'LL BE BACK. SHE NOW LIVES IN SOCAL.

Tuesday, September 18, 2007

FRED GOLDMAN, FATHER OF RON GOLDMAN WHO O.J. MURDERED SPENT A LOT IN LEGAL FEES JUST TO GET O.J.'S ROLEX WHICH HE SPOTTED ON O.J.'S ARM IN VEGAS.

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594
BUT IT'S POSSIBLE O.J. MAY HAVE BEEN WEARING A FAKE ROLEX.

I KNOW BECAUSE MY BROTHER BOUGHT ME ONE IN SHANGHAI, AND FOR TWO WEEKS I WAS ABLE TO TELL EVERYONE THAT WYNTON MARSALIS MIGHT ENDORSE MOVADO, BUT THAT I ENDORSED ROLEX.

I NO LONGER ENDORSE ROLEX, JUST A TIMEX.

NOW NOT ALL FAKES ARE AS BAD AS THE ONE FROM SHANGHAI. I BOUGHT A MOVADO ON MARKET ST. IN SAN FRANCISO FOR ABOUT $44, AND IT LASTED OVER TEN YEARS. IT PROBABLY CAME FROM HONG KONG. HONG KONG WAS ONE OF THE GREATEST EXPORTERS IN THE WORLD TIL THEY WERE TAKEN OVER BY CHINA. SO THEY PROBABLY MADE BETTER FAKES.

LATELY I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR A SAXOPHONE WATCH. I FOUND A TENOR ON EBAY, BUT I WANT AN ALTO OR SOPRANO. SO IF YOU KNOW OF ONE, EMAIL ME.

IF I EVER VENTURE INTO DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES, I'LL LOOK FOR ANOTHER FAKE.

WATCHES AT COSTCO RUN AS HIGH AS SIX THOUSAND DOLLARS. I THOUGHT YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO SAVE MONEY BY SHOPPING AT COSTCO.

FAKES ON EBAY ARE AROUND $200. I HAVEN'T BOUGHT ANYTHING YET.

JAZZ ROYALTY CONVENES AT THE VERITAS FOUNDATION FUNDRAISER AT THE PIERRE HOTEL NYC OCT. 1ST.

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594

THE VERITAS FOUNDATION'S PURPOSE IS TO HELP PEOPLE WITH SUBSTANCE ABUSE. FORMER TRUSTEE THE LATE MAX ROACH SAID IT CAN BE BEATEN. AND "IF VERITAS WERE AROUND, BIRD WOULD STILL BE ALIVE TODAY."

ALL OF BIRD'S FRIENDS WILL BE PERFORMING, ROY HAYNES, JIMMY HEATH ET AL. THE NEW STARS JOE LOVANO, RUSSELL MALONE ET AL.

ONLY TWO VOCALISTS LISTED, LIZ WRIGHT AND ROBERTA GAMBARINI.

I KNOW ROBERTA KNOWS MANY BIRD SOLOS, JUST LISTEN TO HER "ON THE SUNNYSIDE OF THE STREET" AND "COOL BREEZE".

THERE WERE NOTHING BUT GLOWING REPORTS OF THE HANK JONES-ROBERTA GAMBARINI DUO FROM TANGLEWOOD AND THE DUKE ELLINGTON JAZZ FESTIVAL, AND IN BETWEEN THOSE FESTIVALS, ROBERTA WAS IN IBIZA, SPAIN AND NAGOYA, JAPAN.

IN OCTOBER AFTER THE VERITAS GALA, SHE'LL BE AT THE AZORES, HOLLAND, PHOENIX, SAU PAULO AND RIO.

I ALREADY HAVE RESERVATIONS FOR HER APPEARANCE DECEMBER 2ND AT CATALINAS. IF YOU WANT TO GO, EMAIL ME.

WITH RESPECT TO MURDERER O.J., AGAIN MEDIA OVERKILL. HOWEVER THE DETAILS IN LAS VEGAS MAKE FOR A GOOD LAW SCHOOL CRIMINAL LAW EXAM QUESTION.

NOW I RECEIVED AN "A" FROM THE GREAT CRIMINAL LAW AUTHORITY ROLLIN PERKINS. HOWEVER I LOST MY FIRST ARMED ROBBERY CASE IN
WASHINGTON, D.C. AND I WOULD LOSE IN LAS VEGAS AS WELL. I WOULD NEVER HAVE PLAYED THE RACE CARD LIKE JOHNNY COCHRAN, AND O.J. WOULD STILL BE IN JAIL.

Sunday, September 16, 2007

TODAY ON TV WE SEE THE WORST OF HUMAN BEINGS, A MURDERER FINALLY GETTING HIS, AND ONE OF THE GREATEST ATHLETES IN HISTORY GETTING HIS.

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594

CHEERS FOR VEGAS LAW ENFORCMENT. MURDERERS SHOULD NOT GET AWAY WITH MURDER.

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594

FORMER JAZZ SAXOPHONIST AND FED CHAIRMAN ALAN GREENSPAN LAYS IT OUT IN HIS NEW MEMOIR. "IRAQ IS ABOUT OIL".

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594
HE ALSO LAMBASTES BUSH FOR SPENDING TOO MUCH. HE WILL BE INTERVIEWED BY HIS WIFE, NBC'S ANDREA MITCHELL TUESDAY 9/18 AT THE 92ND ST.Y. NYC. THIS SHOULD BE A GREAT INTERVIEW. ANDREA'S ONE OF THE GREAT REPORTERS OF OUR TIME.

o.j. questioned for burglary in vegas. HE MAY FINALLY GET HIS!!!!

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594

THE CHEATING PATRIOTS SHOULD BE BARRED FROM THE SUPERBOWL!

HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND.

HERE'S NORMAN HSU WITH HILLARY. HSU WHO'S AS CROOKED AS THEY COME CONTRIBUTED MILLIONS TO THE CLINTONS AND DEMOCRATS.

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594
BUT WHERE DOES THE MONEY COME FROM???

IF YOU RESEARCH THIS, YOU CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHERE ALL HIS MILLIONS COME FROM. HIS BUSINESSES DON'T MAKE MUCH. HIS INVESTORS, ALL OF WHOM ARE SUCKERS, HAVE ONLY SO MUCH.

THE FBI CAN'T SEEM TO FIGURE OUT WHERE THE MONEY COMES FROM.

I'M THINKING THE MONEY MUST COME FROM CHINA. HSU'S FRIEND, THE FORMER CEO OF LORAL TAUGHT CHINA HOW TO BUILD MISSILES AFTER GETTING PERMISSION FROM BILL CLINTON TO WHOM HE GAVE MILLIONS.

CHINA DOESN'T GIVE MILLIONS AWAY UNLESS IT'S GETTING SOMETHING IN RETURN.

HILLARY AND OTHER CANDIDATES ARE RETURNING THE CONTRIBUTIONS, BUT THE DAMAGE HAS ALREADY BEEN DONE. CHINA GOT SECRET TECHNOLOGY FROM US.

IF YOU THINK THIS CORRUPT STUFF WILL STOP, YOU GOT TO BE KIDDING.

CHINA IS RUTHLESS IN ITS ATTEMPT TO CONQUER THE WORLD ONE WAY OR ANOTHER, THROUGH TRADE. THEY ALREADY OWN ALL OUR DEBT. THEY CAN THROW THIS COUNTRY INTO A FINANCIAL MESS ANYTIME THEY WANT. THEY'RE JUST NOT LIKE THE TERRORISTS WHO ADMIT THEY WANT TO KILL ALL OF US.

WHAT A PLEASANT FUTURE FOR ALL OF US AND OUR CHILDREN.

WE ARE COMPLETE IDIOTS FOR ALLOWING BUSH AND ANY FUTURE LEADERS TO ABUSE AND USE US LIKE THE SOLDIERS IN IRAQ.

AND THIS WILL CONTINUE TO HAPPEN BECAUSE MOST OF US ARE TOO BUSY TRYING TO SURVIVE AND NOT PAYING ATTENTION TO THE PEOPLE SCREWING US.

I'LL BE DEAD, BUT SOME OF YOU WILL STILL BE AROUND, COMPLETELY HELPLESS WITH WHAT'S GOING AROUND YOU.

ACCORDING TO TMZ.COM KID ROCK ALLEGEDLY CLOCKED TOMMY LEE. 90 PERCENT OF TMZ READERS SAY BRITNEY BOMBED AT VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS.

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594

the closest i'll ever get to mtv's video music awards was a few years back when i was in popper, rocker robbie williams music video. it was shot at midnight in downtown l.a. , and they used a fog machine; so you can't see me anyway, but i got my paycheck.

i have no interest in these juvenile shenanigans; however i think herbie got some video music awards in the past.

THIS POP, ROCK VIDEO STUFF IS HYPE AT THE FULLEST. MUSICIANSHIP IS EXTREMELY QUESTIONABLE.

if you're sneezing this weekend, it my be RAGWEED. the pollen is all over this country, especially in the urban areas.

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594
shower when you get in and use AC. however i don't like AC and leave my windows open, that's why i had an attack.

you have to be ashamed of yourself if you don't enjoy the ocean breezes in santa monica and use AC.

anyway i've recovered and should be at CHARLIE O'S SUNDAY NIGHT.

MINNESOTA MATH TEACHER KICKED OFF A SOUTHWEST AIRLINES PLANE FOR APPEARING TOO SEXY? GIVE ME A BREAK! I'LL SIT NEXT TO HER. I NEARLY FLUNKED

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594
CALCULUS AT BERKELEY; THAT'S WHY I PLAY MUSIC.

HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND EVERYONE! I MAYBE AT CHARLIE O'S SUNDAY NIGHT WITH THE TATENG KATENDIG TRIO WHO BACKS PEOPLE LIKE THE GREAT CARL SAUNDERS.

IF BUSH HAS HIS WAY, MEXICAN TRUCKS WILL SOON BE DELIVERING GOODS ALL OVER THE COUNTRY.

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594
THERE ARE ALREADY TOO MANY DAMN TRUCKS ON THE FREEWAYS, ESPECIALLY IN SOCAL. THAT'S WHY I HATE TO DRIVE. IT'S REALLY DANGEROUS.

MAYBE THE MEXICAN TRUCKS WON'T BREAK DOWN. MAYBE THE DRIVERS WILL UNDERSTAND AMERICAN VEHICLE CODES. MAYBE THEY'LL BE ABLE TO NEGOTIATE THE AMERICAN HIGHWAYS, ROADS AND STREETS WITHOUT UNDERSTANDING ENGLISH.

IT'S LIKE PILOTS ALL OVER THE WORLD WHO TRY AND LAND IN DIFFERENT COUNTRIES WHEN THEY CAN'T EVEN UNDERSTAND THE AIR TRAFFIC CONTROLLER.

I'M ALL FOR FREE TRADE, BUT WAIT TIL THE FIRST CASTASROPHE OCCURS.

Wednesday, September 05, 2007

SANTA MONICA'S BLUE BUS DRIVERS NEARLY HIT ME ONCE. THEY DRIVE TOO FAST AND CLOSE TO THE SIDEWALK.

THIS WILL BE AN EXCITING FOOTBALL SEASON.

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594
i watched most of the Cal game, ucla, and none of usc except for hi lites. however it seems to me usc is bigger and faster, although cal's running backs are fast and shifty.

RIGHT NOW I HAVE TO GIVE THE EDGE TO USC, BUT THE GAME IS IN BERKELEY, AND A BIG UPSET COULD BE LOOMING.

THE RAIDERS HAVE IMPROVED, AND SINCE I'M IN SOCAL, THE 49ERS WHO???? BILL WALSH PASSED. WHAT'S LEFT? GAVIN NEWSOME??

THERE'S STILL A BIG WEEKEND LEFT; LOTS OF GREAT MUSIC COMING.

OWEN WILSON CAPTURES THE COVER OF PEOPLE MAGAZINE BY SLITTING HIS WRISTS AND GULPING PILLS.

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594
LARRY KING FOCUSES ON DEPRESSION IN LIGHT OF WILSON'S SUICIDE ATTEMPT AND HAS GUESTS SUCH AS DEBORAH NORVILLE, TANYA TUCKER, ROBIN GIVENS, ALL OF WHOM SUFFERED FROM DEPRESSION.

THIS SUBJECT INTERESTS ME GREATLY AS I SUFFERED A SERIOUS DEPRESSION IN 2000 AS I LOST ALL MY MONEY IN THE STOCK MARKET AND SUBSEQUENTLY RECEIVED AN EVICTION NOTICE. FROM 2000 TO 2003, I COULD NOT PLAY ONE NOTE OF MUSIC.

I EVEN CALLED THE SUICIDE HOTLINE IN 2000, BUT DID NOT TAKE DRASTIC STEPS LIKE WILSON. HOWEVER I STAYED IN BED LIKE ROBIN GIVENS AND DEBORAH NORVILLE.

IF ALL OF US MENTIONED ABOVE SUFFERED FROM DEPRESSION, THEN THERE ARE PROBABLY A LOT MORE PEOPLE WHO SUFFER FROM DEPRESSION FOR VARIOUS REASONS. WE MIGHT NOT KNOW SOMEONE DEAR TO US OR A FRIEND IS DEPRESSED BECAUSE DEPRESSION IS FAIRLY EASY TO MASK. AND MOST PEOPLE ARE ASHAMED TO TALK ABOUT IT. WE KNOW ABOUT FAMOUS PEOPLE BECAUSE THEY'RE ALWAYS IN THE NEWS.

BUT WE COMMON PEOPLE SUFFER JUST AS MUCH IF NOT MORE, AND WE DON'T HAVE THE RESOURCES, MEDICAL HELP AND DRUGS SOMETIMES TO DEAL WITH IT.

I HAD THE VA, AND THE VA SAVED MY LIFE. I WAS HOSPITALIZED ONE MONTH AND TRIED SEVERAL MEDICATIONS, FINALLY SETTLING ON LITHIUM.

MANY ACTORS, COMEDIANS, MUSICIANS AND I DON'T LIKE TAKING MEDICATION BECAUSE WE FEEL IT INHIBITS OUR PERFORMANCE. EFFECTIVE MEDICATION CALMS YOU DOWN BY MAKING YOU MORE DOCILE.

I PERSONALLY THINK MY MIND DOESN'T MOVE AS FAST, AND I'M LESS SPONTANEOUS WHILE UNDER MEDICATION. HOWEVER I CAN GET OUT OF HAND IF I'M NOT ON MEDICATION. SO I TAKE IT. I'VE MANAGED TO POST OVER 200 TRACKS OF MUSIC ONLINE. SO THAT'S NOT TOO BAD. BELIEVE ME IT'S RISKY NOT TO TAKE MEDICATION BECAUSE I CAN GET EXTREMELY UPSET OVER CERTAIN THINGS, LIKE COPS HARRASSING ME WHEN I'M TRYING TO PLAY MUSIC.

HOWEVER WILSON'S CASE IS MUCH MORE SERIOUS AS HE HAS HAD A BOUT WITH DRUGS. ACCORDING TO PSYCHIATRISTS, IF ONE IS ADDICTED TO DRUGS, THERE IS A TENDENCY TO ACT MORE IRRATIONALLY AND NOT REALLY REALIZING WHAT YOU'RE DOING.

I DON'T DRINK, SMOKE OR DO DRUGS; SO I HAVE NO IDEA OF WHAT WILSON IS GOING THROUGH. AT ONE TIME I DRANK SOME WINE TO TRY AND EASE THE PAIN, BUT ALL IT DID WAS MAKE ME HIGH.

THIS IS A VERY DIFFICULT SUBJECT TO TALK ABOUT, BUT IT HELPS TO TALK WITH PEOPLE ABOUT THIS, AND I AM A JOURNALIST, AND I BELIEVE IN BEING AS TRUTHFUL AS POSSIBLE IN EVERYTHING I WRITE.

Tuesday, August 28, 2007

LET'S HOPE ACTOR OWEN WILSON RECOVERS FROM SLITTING HIS WRISTS AND TAKING TOO MANY PILLS.

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594
SOMETIMES A SUICIDE ATTEMPT IS A CALL FOR HELP. WILSON HAS MANY FRIENDS. HE USED TO GO TO LAKERS GAMES WITH EX KATE HUDSON.

HE SEEMED TO BE A PRETTY GOOD ACTOR. I WATCHED HIM TO DO DOZENS OF TAKES FOR "DRILLBIT TAYLOR" SCHEDULED TO BE RELEASED NEXT MARCH. YOU CAN SEE THE TRAILER ONLINE AND A GLIMPSE OF SANTA MONICA'S 3RD ST PROMENADE.

IT WAS SHOT LAST YEAR ON THE PROMENADE, ONE OF MY CHANCES TO GET AN OSCAR. (THE OTHER, THE JOY LUCK CLUB.)

WILSON "DRILLBIT", AN EX SOLDIER OF FORTUNE IS HIRED BY TWO HIGH SCHOOL KIDS TO BE THEIR BODY GUARD AGAINST A SCHOOL BULLY. ONLY AT A SCHOOL LIKE BEVERLY HILLS HIGH SCHOOL WHERE I TAUGHT WOULD KIDS COME UP WITH THIS IDEA OR EVEN HIRE A HIT MAN TO DO AWAY WITH A HIGH SCHOOL BULLY.

IN THE SCENE I'M IN, WILSON AND HIS BUDDY WALK BY ME WHILE I'M PLAYING "GIANT STEPS". OF COURSE THEY WON'T USE THAT IN THE MOVIE. IT WOULDN'T FIT. THEY'LL PROBABLY USE RAP MUSIC IN THE MOVIE. AND THEY'LL GET ERNIE WATTS OR ONE OF THE MAIN STUDIO CATS TO PLAY MY NOTES.

I SAT THERE WITH MY HORN DOING NOTHING FOR 8 HOURS, BUT THE FOOD AND PAY IS GOOD.

Monday, August 27, 2007

THROUGHOUT HISTORY, RULERS, COUNTRIES USUALLY GET PEASANTS AND PEONS TO DO THEIR DIRTY WORK, FIGHT WARS.

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594
THEY OFFER MANY ENTICEMENTS, HONOR SERVE YOUR COUNTRY, IN SOME CASES WOMEN, FOOD, BUT IN THIS COUNTRY WE OFFER BONUSES OF UP TO $40,000.

THAT'S TEMPTING WHEN YOU DON'T HAVE AN OCCUPATIONAL CHOICE.
RISK YOUR LIFE FOR $40,000 OR LESS. COME HOME MAIMED AND DISABLED? A VET IN A WHEEL CHAIR SANG WITH ME TODAY WHO HAD BOTH HIS LEGS BLOWN OFF. HE WAS BITTER OF COURSE, BUT THE MUSIC ALLOWED HIM TO FORGET HIS PAIN FOR A FEW MOMENTS. HE WAS HUMMING ALONG TO COLE PORTER'S NIGHT AND DAY AND YOU'D BE SO NICE TO COME HOME TO. HE CAME HOME AND IS TOTALLY BITTER ABOUT HIS PLIGHT. I CAN'T BLAME HIM. I COULD NOT OFFER HIM ANY SOLACE EXCEPT MY MUSIC.

FINALLY GONZALES IS FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF RUMSEFELD, ROVE, THE FEMA DIRECTOR AND OTHER INEPT APPOINTEES.

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594

YOU HAVE WITNESSED WHY ELECTING A PRESIDENT WHO APPOINTS THE RIGHT PEOPLE IS SO IMPORTANT. ALL THESE PEOPLE WHO QUIT BUSH DIDN'T DESERVE TO SERVE THE NATION. IN FACT THEY SCREWED THIS COUNTRY AND THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.

THE NEXT PRESIDENT WILL BE REPLACING JUSTICES JOHN PAUL STEVENS AND RUTH BADER GINSBURG, BOTH OF WHOM TO BELIEVE IN WOMAN'S RIGHT TO CHOOSE RATHER THAN THE RIGHTS OF A NEWLY FERTILIZED EGG.

WHOEVER IS ELECTED PRESIDENT CAN VIRTUALLY DESTROY A WOMAN'S RIGHT TO CHOOSE BY APPOINTING THE WRONG JUSTICES.

i was saddened to learn tonight about the passing of my friend DEWEY AJIOTO of Santa Monica.

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594
i don't have a picture of Dewey, but he took one of me from which he painted this portrait.

Dewey was one of the first persons i met when i moved to Santa Monica, and he never told me he had pancreatic cancer.

we usually talked about his grandson a left handed little league pitcher in Malibu. i had meant to see him play as he reminded me of my former teammate MOTO YAMAMOTO who was also a pitcher, first baseman, center fielder, and he was shorter than me, and i'm only five foot eight inches. we both played american legion and varsity baseball.

Dewey, a former english professor at L.A. City College survived the W W II years in the midwest. He and his wife were friends at UCLA when the war broke out, and she was interned, and he fled to the midwest.

To me this is a great love story as they corresponded during the war and married afterwards. They have a son who's a guitarist and a daughter, the mother of the baseball player.

Dewey and I also talked politics as he hated Bush, KARL ROVE, RUMSFELD and all the idiots in office. He also told me about string theory, and i didn't know what the hell he was talking about.

but we talked about a lot of seemingly serious subjects, and he was one of the few intellectual friends i've made in santa monica. and I'LL MISS HIM.

IT WOULD BE A SHAME IF WE NEVER WATCHED MICHAEL VICK MATURE AS A FOOTBALL PLAYER. HE HAS AN INCREDIBLE ARM AND SPEED.

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594

MICHAEL VICK'S BACKGROUND REMINDS ME A LOT OF WHAT I WITNESSED GROWING UP IN ALAMEDA, CALIFORNIA.

ON THE WEST END OF ALAMEDA WERE SOME HOUSING PROJECTS NEAR THE ALAMEDA NAVAL AIR STATION, NOT UNLIKE THE HOUSING PROJECTS IN NEWPORT NEWS WHERE VICK GREW UP.

THOSE HOUSING PROJECTS IN ALAMEDA PRODUCED ATHLETES LIKE WILLIE STARGELL, TOMMY HARPER, CURT MOTEN. THEY ALSO PRODUCED GREAT MUSICIANS LIKE LARRY LENNEAR WHO PLAYED WITH LITTLE RICHARD. I PLAYED WITH HIM IN AN HIGH SCHOOL ALL CITY BAND, AND HE WAS BETTER THAN I WAS. (AT THAT TIME)

HOWEVER THE ALAMEDA PROJECTS WERE NOT GANG AND DRUG INFESTED LIKE THE ONES IN NEWPORT NEWS WHICH PRODUCED, VICK, ALLEN IVERSON, RON CURRY, AARON BROOKS.

VICK'S MOTHER WAS 16 WHEN HE WAS BORN. HIS FATHER MICHAEL WAS 17. THEY DIDN'T MARRY FOR FIVE YEARS. THERE WAS ONE CHILD EARLIER, AND THREE OTHERS AFTER MICHAEL.

MICHAEL'S FATHER WAS KNOWN TO HAVE BLINDING SPEED AS A RUNNER. EVEN THOUGH HE STARTED MICHAEL THROWING THE FOOTBALL, HE WAS NOT HOME ALL THAT MUCH, WAS A DRUGGIE AND WORKED INTERMITTENTLY.

HOWEVER WHEN MICHAEL TURNED PRO, HE BEGAN SUPPORTING HIS OLD MAN. HOWEVER HIS OLD MAN WAS GREEDY AND BEGAN THREATENING TO TATTLE ON MICHAEL IF HE DIDN'T GET MORE MONEY. HE WANTED MILLIONS PAID OVER 12 YEARS.

WELL HE DIDN'T GET THE MONEY; SO NOW YOU HEAR HIM FINKING ON MICHAEL

GRANTED DOG CRUELTY AND DOG FIGHTING IS INEXCUSABLE, I BELIEVE VICK SHOULD HAVE A CHANCE TO PLAY AGAIN, BUT IT'S UP TO THE COMMISIONER I GUESS.

BY THE WAY LUCKY LINDSAY LOHAN HAS LESS COMMUHITY SERVICE THAN I HAVE FOR PLAYING MUSIC TOO LOUD IN SANTA MONICA. GO FIGURE!!

Thursday, August 23, 2007

LINDSAY LOHAN ONE DAY IN JAIL. THAT'S ALL.

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594
MICHAEL VICK SHOULD HAVE HIRED LINDSAY'S LAWYER, OR HE SHOULD HAVE HIRED MICHAEL JACKSON'S LAWYER, TOM MESEREAU.

LINDSAY'S STATEMENT AND DETAILS AT www.tmz.com

BIG SHOWDOWN COMING UP IN CALIFORNIA PRESIDENTIAL POLITICS. REPUBLICANS WILL TRY TO PUSH THROUGH A BALLOT MEASURE SPLITTING CALIFORNIA'S ELECTORAL VOTES INSTEAD OF WINNER TAKE ALL. THIS IS CRUCIAL AND COULD MEAN THE ELECTION AS CALIFORNIA HAS 55 ELECTORAL VOTES. IF REPUBLICANS GET A SHARE, THEN THEY'LL PROBABLY WIN THE PRESIDENCY. LOOK FOR THE BALLOT MEASURE IN JUNE 2008.

WHY WOULD PUTIN POSE LIKE THIS?

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594

I'M NOT A KREMLIN EXPERT, BUT HERE'S MY THOUGHTS.

PUTIN'S A HUGE EGO MANIAC WHO DOES NOT WANT TO RELINQUISH POWER AS REQUIRED BY THEIR CONSTITUTION. THAT MEANS HE'S GOING TO HAVE TO RAM ROD A CONSTITUTIONAL CHANGE.

HE RUNS THE THE MEDIA. HE'S STIMULATED THE GAYS AND HIS WOMEN ADMIRERS. THE RUSSIANS LOVE THEIR PHYSICAL OLYMPIC STARS.

THIS HAS NOT AND PROBABLY WILL NOT BE PROVEN BUT HE'S ORDERED HIS CRITICS ASSASINATED.

LIKE EVERY NATION, HE WANTS MORE OIL; SO HE'S PUT A FLAG UP IN THE ARTIC, CLAIMING A SHARE.

THIS IS RUSSIAN DEMOCRACY.

BUT LOOK AT WHAT HAPPENED IN THIS COUNTRY. WE'RE SUPPOSED TO HAVE THE BEST DEMOCRACY, BUT WE'RE IN A STUPID WAR AND CAN'T GET OUT.

WE HAVE A BUNCH OF POLITICIANS ARGUING WITH EACH OTHER, AND OUR PROBLEMS REMAIN, SOLDIERS GETTING KILLED AND BILLIONS OF OUR MONEY PISSED AWAY, BUT SOMEHOW ENDING UP IN THE POCKETS OF CERTAIN PEOPLE LIKE WAR PROFITEERS. THIS IS REALLY STUPID!

AGAIN BUSH SHOWS HOW STUPID HE IS COMPARING IRAQ TO VIETNAM.

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594

IN IRAQ, THE WARRING PARTIES HAVE BEEN FIGHTING EACH OTHER SINCE TIME IMMEMORIAL. OUR PURPOSE SUPPOSEDLY IS TO FIGHT TERRORISM. BUT SINCE WE GOT THERE, MORE TERRORISTS ARRIVED.

IN VIETNAM, THE NORTH WANTED UNIFICATION, AND WE WERE TRYING TO PROP UP A DICTATOR. BIG DIFFERENCE. IN BOTH CASES, LIVES WERE SACRIFICED IN VAIN.

MICHELLE OBAMA RECENTLY SAID, "IF YOU CAN'T TAKE CARE OF YOUR OWN HOUSE, HOW CAN YOU TAKE CARE OF THE WHITE HOUSE?" THIS STATEMENT INFERS THAT HILLARY CANNOT STOP BILL'S FOOLING AROUND, CONSEQEENTLY SHE CAN'T LEAD THE NATION. THAT'S HOGWASH.

FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT, ONE OF OUR GREATEST PRESIDENTS HAD A MISTRESS, AND HIS WIFE ELEANOR WAS A GREAT FIRST LADY.

AN ARGUMENT CAN BE MADE THAT IF A MAN IS SEXUALLY SATISFIED, HE CAN FOCUS BETTER ON THE JOB AT HAND. OBVIOUSLY BILL HAD TO GET HIS ROCKS OFF.

I ONLY AGREE WITH KARL ROVE ON ONE THING, THAT THE REPUBLICANS CAN BEAT HILLARY. THAT'S WHY HE AND OTHERS ARE BUILDING HER UP. THEIR BEST CHANCE IS TO RUN AGAINST HILLARY.

ALSO PERSONALLY, I DON'T WANT TO LISTEN TO HILLARY'S VOICE FOR FOUR YEARS, EVERY DAY. I LISTEN TO THE NEWS WHEN I AWAKE AND WHEN I GO TO SLEEP. I DON'T WANT TO HEAR HER VOICE. YOU WOULD THINK WITH A 40 YEAR CAREER IN PUBLIC LIFE, SHE WOULD HAVE TAKEN VOICE LESSONS. I'M VERY SENSITIVE TO A WOMEN'S VOICES, WHETHER THEY'RE VOCALISTS OR BROADCASTERS.

TMZ.COM REPORTS LINDSAY LOHAN IS NOT LIKELY TO FACE FELONY CHARGES.

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594
THAT'S WHAT A BIG NAME, MONEY AND TOP LEGAL TALENT CAN DO FOR YOU. BESIDES THE D.A.'S BOTH IN LOS ANGELES AND SANTA MONICA MUST RUN FOR REELECTION, AND THEY NEED CAMPAIGN FUNDS.

IF YOU OR I COMMITTED THOSE SAME OFFENSES,IT'S FELONY CHARGES AND THE SLAMMER. AT MOST WITH MISDEMEANORS, LOHAN MIGHT BE IN JAIL FOR FOUR DAYS, LESS THAN PARIS HILTON.

GOOD FOR LOHAN. WE ALL KNOW IT'S NOT HER FAULT SHE GETS OUT OF HAND. SHE MIGHT EVEN BE BIPOLAR. HER PARENTS NEVER GAVE HER ANY GUIDANCE, AND SHE'S BEEN A BIG STAR SINCE SHE'S BEEN A KID AND SUPPORTING HER SCREWED UP PARENTS.

I'M GLAD FOR HER BECAUSE IF SHE LEARNS HER LESSON, SHE COULD BE A GREAT ACTRESS.

Friday, August 17, 2007

JENNA BUSH REALLY SHOULD BE KNOWN MORE FOR TRAVELLING TO PARAGUAY AND SEALING HER OLD MAN'S 100,000 ACRE LAND DEAL THAN GETTING MARRIED IN THE WHITE

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594
HOUSE.

ALSO SHE'S A KNOWN DRUNK LIKE HER OLD MAN, GETTING ROWDY IN ARGENTINA.

HER FIANCE IS A FORMER INTERN TO KARL ROVE AND HIS FATHER IS A FORMER HEAD OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY IN VA. AND A FORMER LT. GOVERNOR. OBVIOUSLY HE'S NOT SERVING IN IRAQ NOR WOULD HE BE THAT STUPID.

IT'S UP TO US TO PREVENT THESE HEIRS FROM GETTING INTO POWER.

THEY'LL ACT IN THE SAME MANNER IN THE WAY THEY'VE BEEN INFLUENCED AND BROUGHT UP. THEY'LL ACT LIKE THE WORLD IS THEIR OYSTER, AND EVERYONE SHOULD BE EXPLOITED FOR THEIR BENEFIT.

ANYWAY HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND AND STAY IN THE SHADE AND AC.

IF WE GET HIT BY ANOTHER EARTHQUAKE, COME TO SANTA MONICA.

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594

IF YOU HAVE TO FLEE YOUR HOME, COME JOIN THE HOMELESS IN SANTA MONICA.

EVERYONE'S HERE AS YOU CAN SLEEP OUTSIDE ALL YEAR AROUND.

I HAVE LOTS OF WATER, BATTERIES, A BIG FLASHLIGHT, AND MY INSTRUMENTS.

MY BOSE WAVE II CAN BE POWERED WITH BATTERIES.

I HAVE LOTS OF CAN GOODS. BE SURE AND BRING CAN OPENER.

EVEN IF WE LOSE ALL OUR POSSESSIONS, WE CAN HAVE A GOOD TIME, LISTEN AND PLAY GOOD MUSIC, ASSUMING WE'RE STILL ALIVE.

HAVE A GOOD, HOT WEEKEND!

LEADING PRESIDENTIAL CONTENDER MITT ROMNEY PLAYING WITH SON AND GRANDSON.

http://www.blogger.com/blog-formatting.g?blogID=18612594
THESE REPUBLICANS LOVE WAR, BUT NONE OF THEM SEEM TO SERVE IN THE MILITARY.

ROMNEY WAS A MORMON MISSIONARY DURING VIETNAM AND HAD A HIGH LOTTERY NUMBER.

HIS FIVE SONS SAYS ROMNEY "SHOW THEIR PATROTISM BY CAMPAIGNING FOR HIM BECAUSE THEY THINK HE WOULD BE A GREAT PRESIDENT". THERE ARE NOT CLOSE TO ENLISTING TO SUPPORT THE WAR EFFORT. WOULD YOU?

KARL ROVE AS MENTIONED BELOW WENT TO FIVE DIFFERENT SCHOOLS TO AVOID MILIARY SERVICE.

BUSH JUGGLED HIS AIR NATIONAL GUARD ASSIGNMENTS TO AVOID COMBAT.

YET ALL THESE GUYS WANT TO GO TO WAR IN A SPLIT SECOND.

IRAN LOOKS TO BE A TARGET FOR BUSH BEFORE HE LEAVES OFFICE.

CRAZY, UH???
